I've heard some parents complaining about toys randomly going off when no one is playing with/near them and often it turns out to be dying batteries. Well DS has a couple of toys that have done this in our new house despite new batteries. I've about had it tonight as the latest one going off on its own is his walker and it is beyond words creepy. It just keeps saying "come and play with us". Ummmm... No thanks. I consider myself a pretty rational person, but this is some Chucky style shit. I mean you really have to turn the dial forcefully to get that part of the walker to play. WTF - anyone else have this happen?
Re: OT: Toys Playing By Themselves
But this reminds me of when I was 19. Me and mom were moving and I went into the attic handing stuff down. Well I come across this doll (I was already not a doll person) well it just starts talking. It says is everybody sleeping I want to tell you a secret. I threw that doll down the stairs as quick as possible and told my mom that the doll wasn't moving with us. I had never seen that doll before then either. It was baby secret had a pull string I guess got pulled when I picked her up.
There are a couple of puzzles that we ended up keeping around because my kids liked them so much. They are Melissa and Doug puzzles that make the sound of whatever the puzzle piece is. The catch is that they are photo sensitive. We lost a piece to one of them and everytime we would turn out the light at night it would go off. And every so often if we left the blinds open in our front room, headlights from a passing car would set it off. That damn puzzle scared me so many times!
Knock on wood...
Good luck to you woman!
My mom got me one as a joke because I had one growing up that I threw out of my window because it scared the crap out of me one morning when I got up.. I woke up and it was right next to me and I put it on my dresser before I went to bed.. That's where I always put it.. No more furbies for me.. EVER!!! She said "I got it for the baby" As she laughed and snickered handing it to me.....ummmm no he will not have a creepy furbie toy.. OT but I owned a Guinea pig for 4 years named furbie and she was the sweetest thing ever!
Also my brother had a Tommy Pickles doll (from Rugrats), and he slept with it in his bed. One night he rolled over onto it, when the batteries were almost dead, and it said in a low voice, "Come play with me!" Hahaha so creepy
"Can you feed me?! The orange carrot?!" And it's so freaking loud!!!
When I lived in Toronto, for a little while I had a basement apartment and the girl upstairs had an 2 year old son. He had a potty that played music when you peed into it, and it started to go off on it's own so she removed the batteries but it kept going off.
Then other strange things started happening, like things disappearing and then reappearing to where they originally were 2 days later, the front door locking or unlocking it's self, and a teddy bear that used to be on top of a dresser that he couldn't reach, she would find it in bed with him each morning. His sippy cup lid unscrewed it's self in front of our eyes and fell onto the table one night. And sometimes you would just get this overwhelming sense of sadness out of nowhere when you were sitting in the lounge, like you wanted to cry.
Then one night shit got really real. I hear an alarm going off in the basement ceiling, so I went upstairs and couldn't hear anything. She had a friend over and we all (with dog and baby) went downstairs to see if it was still going and when we were stood under the ceiling where it was, it just stopped. We went back upstairs.
Her son had a little table with 2 chairs and 2 placemats on it. The chairs were pushed under on each side and the placemats were on top of each other in the middle of the table when we went downstairs. When we came back up, the chairs were now laying on their sides, on top of each other sort of half under the coffee table and the placemats were half on half off each side of the table and the teddy bear was sitting on the couch.
We grabbed the son, the dog, I grabbed my bottle of wine (it was a Saturday night) and we all went and sat in the car on the driveway and called her boyfriend. The lights started to go off and on and I needed the bathroom so I went back in and found the sons pull along toy was now in the middle of the coffee table and one of the dining room chairs was in the middle of the room.
The boyfriend who was into ghosties and stuff came over and went in the house and came out a bit later and told us it was ok to go back in. I lived there for about another month and strange stuff still happened but not like that night.
I'm a very rational, scientific person and there's always a reasonable explanation for everything, but that I can't explain.
Lmao - I did that all the way back to London.
Then, one light in our living room would flicker on and off, and everytime I'd go near it it would stop. Walk away, it would flicker again! I changed the bulb and checked the switches and everything. No reason for it. Apparently my neighbor said an old guy died of cancer before we moved in but who knows >:D<
More recently, the tv in the kitchen would randomly turn on. It definitely startled all of us when it would happen. Come to find it was only when we would turn the light on when everything else is dark. We think it has something to do with the remote and some signal or something from it.
