Insurance should cover it if you're over 35. Two years ago when I first did it, it was considered an elective if you wee under 35 and I think you paid about $200 out of pocket. Things might have changed since. So many more companies are offering it and it sounds like everyone is doing it now regardless of age.
If you are talking about the Maternity21 test I just had it which it should be covered 100% by insurance because of my age but if it wasn't I was told it would cost me no more then $140 ever. I live in CT so it might vary state to state.
My test in total will be $1200. $600 for the US/consultation & another $600 for the blood work. Def check with your insurance. I'm 36 & it's more than highly recommended I get the test but my insurance doesn't cover it.
I had Verifi done on August 13. They submitted a claim to my insurance for $4,750 IIRC. My insurance discounted some portion of it, and the remainder in the amount of $1800 or so is my responsibility, subject to my (ridiculously high) deductible. The Peace of Mind program through Progenity should limit my out of pocket cost to $99.
I had the genetic counseling, maternity21 blood test and the US for measurement (nf) because I am 36. They billed my insurance around $4000 and I paid $70. In CT the lady says insurance usually covers it at 35 and above but the most the blood test cost to me would be is $140 no matter what.
If over 35 most insurances will cover it unless you have a copay or deductable you have to pay. I asked how much if insurance wouldnt pay for incase and they told me $2700. Mine luckly paid for it.
