i just found out that I have a vitamin d deficiency. My dr told me to take a supplement. Is my baby going to be ok? I'm nervous. Has damage already been done??
My OB told me most people in my area have a deficiency. It's really nothing to get upset about. It's one of the most common things to have lower levels of. Just start taking a supplement and relax a little! You and your baby will be fine.
Super common. I think the majority of people in cooler climates are deficient. Start your supplement, the MD should monitor your levels, and all shall be fine!
TONS of women are Vit D deficient. Start taking your supplement and don't worry. A very large percentage of women in my area of the country are deficient during pregnancy and have perfectly healthy babies.
Did the doctor say anything about your baby when he diagnosed you with vitamin D deficiency?
If the doctor was aware that you were pregnant but didn't say anything about any harm that may already have been caused by the deficiency, I wouldn't worry about it. And based on the pps, it looks like it's a common diagnose that you don't need to worry about. But I would suggest that you talk to your doctor about it, since you are worried about it.
I have the same thing and my dr phrased it "you have a vitamin d deficiency just like most people in the world." I'm not worried and you shouldn't be either!
I think you and your little will be just fine. I am anemic and vitamin d deficient so in addition to my prenatal my doc has had me taking an iron pill and a vitamin d3 supplement.
So it's certainly more common than one might think.
Agree with a PP, if this is your OB who knows your pregnant and is recommending a supplement you are fine. It's also super common, so try not to worry too much
Thank you everyone!! I'm so nervous because you always read on the Internet and it scares you. I'm doing everything possible to correct it! I'm glad it's super common! Does anyone ever have personal experience or know anyone who was for the first trimester and everything was fine with their little one?
Re: Vitamin d deficiency! I'm so upset!
edited for clarity
Rule of thumb: if your doctor doesn't express concern then you can relax. They're the professionals, we're just a bunch of random strangers online.
So it's certainly more common than one might think.
No worries! Sending positive vibes your way!
