gift to older kids from baby

Any one doing this or have ideas?

Re: gift to older kids from baby

  • I'm making my two a little goody bag each, with stuff like sticker books, a disposable camera (for them to take photos of the baby), sweets, a puzzle and just generally bits to do when I need "quiet time"! I wanted the gifts to be practical but fun. Il probably stick a "big sister" "big brother" tshirt in there too

  • Yes we are doing this. Not exactly sure what possibly a bicycle. Was thinking something big because it's a huge adjustment but nothing too extravagant.
  • My mom will be taking my son the build a bear while I'm in the hospital with New Baby.

Last time we did baby doll and shirt. Also let DD1 pick out a present she wanted to get DD2. This time we are done shirts and books. And of course let the girls pick out something to get LO.
  • Everyone keeps suggesting this for our daughter... and I like the idea, but there is a high probability that the baby will be born within a week of DD1's birthday... with Christmas only a few weeks later.  I'm thinking that's a lot of gift giving, and hopefully having her birthday right after the baby arrives will make her feel special enough.....

I was going to do something similar to @mamavbs though, stickers, crayons, and things to keep her busy while I deal with a newborn.
  • We are going to do this for DD. I would love to find something sentimental to give to her from the baby but as of now I am drawing blanks.
So far I plan to get her the Baby Alive doll & the kids version of the Solly wrap since that's what I will be carrying baby in :) I figure that she can be feeding/changing her baby while I do that stuff for the new baby.
  • @apritch88 we have the same situation! DD1 turns 2 exactly 1 week before this baby is due and then Christmas is the next month. I'm thinking for her birthday we will get her a baby doll so she can take care of her baby while I'm taking care of her brother or sister.
That's really all I was thinking of doing. Might make a trip to the dollar store for a new coloring book and stickers maybe, but we won't be doing anything big due to birthday and Christmas.
  • No idea what the baby will give to DS. Hoping to figure that out at some point.

  • We are going to do this as well. My 4 year old is so excited for her new brother to come and she is anxious to be a part. We are going to get her something small and let her be the person to introduce the baby when people come to visit. I am also taking her to the sibling class at the hospital so she can see where we will be and they talk to them about the new baby stuff.
  • My mom will be taking care of DD while I'm in the hospital. I think I will have little surprises my mom can give her each day like stickers, playdoh, I'm a big sister book, etc. I've also read about giving them a baby doll the same sex as the new baby. That way they can take care of the baby doll while you take care of the newborn.
  • My kids get a new brother. That's their present! Lol Not doing anything special. They'll be excited to have a sleepover with grandma, and to have company over for the first week or so.
