Anyone else have pain in pubic bone?

I've talked to my doctor about it and she says it's no big deal, but I'm just curious if anyone else has been experiencing pain and pressure around your pubic bone/pelvis. It's not a sharp, shooting vaginal pain like I know many women get, but more of a bruised feeling. It's the worst when I get up in the morning, but I feel it throughout the day too. Anyone else have this symptom or know of any tricks to ease the pain?

Re: Anyone else have pain in pubic bone?

  • Oh my god yes... Mine cracks too. It's very painful and is worsened when walking/putting pressure on it. I find after laying down/waking up in the morning it is the worst. My OB told me that sadly it is normal and it's just because our pubic bone is separating to make room for baby's head.

So now when it hurts me really bad,
I just think to myself that at least I won't have any issues with narrowness or require a c section due to lack of space. Some women do not properly expand and have this problem. Your body is amazing.. Even if it hurts. I wish you the best :)

  • Yes! I've been having this pain for over a month now. Some days are worse than others. I use a lot of ice & a little Tylenol on the really rough days.

  • Yep!! Just asked my dr about it Tuesday and she said completely normal and it's due to the bone separating to prepare for birth....but seriously OUCH!! She said Tylenoyl will help some.
  • Yes, I've had this since about 28 weeks. :( Lately it's gotten REALLY painful but I just hope it means I won't have any trouble getting this baby noggin out!
  • Oh yeah, for a couple weeks now. It feels like I was kicked there really hard. On the nights I sleep with a pillow between my legs it feels better than when I don't. It doesn't completely go away but doesn't hurt so much.
  • Yes!! So glad this is normal. I was just saying it feels like my hip/pelvic bone is being dislocated but...well... I suppose it is lol
  • I'm feeling you ladies feels like I've been horse back riding without the saddle. A friend of mine suggested that I Google and try a perineal massage it helps but needs to be done everyday. Google it and see if it will help you. I'm so ready for baby to come now this discomfort is getting to much
  • Yes! Been feeling like this for about a month now. It's like I just took a 10 hour bike ride. It's worse in the morning, making it hard to walk, but some days I feel it all day.
  • Have been having this pain for a few weeks too. Mine is worse during the night (only sleep for a couple of hours at the most now) and first thing in the morning. My midwife says its normal, just your pelvis opening up,so we have not as much support in the area so makes it feel worse. :(
  • Look up Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction, if those symptoms match what you're feeling then there's definitely some steps you can take to lesson the pain.
  • OMG it is so awful! I am so stiff at night so it hurts so bad just to move or get up and potty. Walking hurts constantly and lifting my legs to put on clothes...forget about it :( I've gone and gotten a maternity massage and that gave me some relief for a day or so. I also lay over a large exercise ball and roll slightly forward which stretches out the pelvic region. The pain doesn't go away but it does reduce it so I can function. Also, try spending some time in the pool. My husband will hold my upper back and I'll put my feet up on a pool noodle and I'll just float for about 30 minutes. Taking all the weight and pressure off the joints makes a big difference! Good luck!
  • I have it too and see a physical therapist that specializes in women's health. She has a few moves that relieves the pain and I lay with a pillow under my left side (the side that hurts). It helps a lot.
  • Whenever I wake up both my hips hurt from the pressure he puts on them cause I can obviously only sleep on my side... And when I move my hips pop so loud it's scary like they are out of place! I've been falling asleep with a heating pad every night for about an hour or two and my bf turns it off when I goes to bed and it really helps the pain but if I miss a night I have horrible pain in the morning
  • Yes doctor said its the pelvic bone opening up and spreading plus the baby dropping will putore pressure , walking and stretches help and a luke warm bath
  • Oooooooh, yes. In a previous pregnancy a doula friend of mine recommended seeing a chiropractor to just get the bones back in line again at the pubic symphysis. I was skeptical of chiropractic stuff but went anyway. It completely worked! In one very gentle 10 min adjustment, the pain I'd had for weeks that kept me from even walking on some days, was totally gone! So now I see a chiropractor regularly and have had almost completely discomfort free pregnancies, even with my current twin pregnancy! I don't know exactly how chiropractic works, but finding a super gentle chiropractor with years of prenatal training and experience has made these last three pregnancies discomfort free and the last two births efficient (fast!) and complication-free. (My first two births were sooooo long and painful and fraught with complications.) My body just seems to work better under the care of a good gentle experienced prenatal chiropractor. Highly recommend. :)
  • Booooo:( yes I've had this for about 2 months. It just started getting worse. I'm limping around bc walking hurts so bad. Sleeping is terrible too bc when I turn from side to side it killlsss. I was just wondering if anyone else has this pain as well so it's nice to see this discussion.
