Pediatrician Appointments

Anyone else wish they had almost weekly appointments?? LO had pretty bad jaundice at birth, so once we finally left the hospital, we were going to the ped every day for a week for weight checks. Then obviously they started spreading out appointments (which I know is a good sign). But now that they are only every couple of months... I miss them terribly! I just really like the reassurance of knowing everything LO does is ok. There aren't any major issues that I'm ever worried about, I just like having a pro hold my hand sometimes, haha.

  • Once a month I would be happy with.. I

  • I also wish they were monthly. Although I'm sure I won't be saying that in a few months time. I got so used to having my own frequent appointments with my OB that now it seems odd to me to NOT have a doctors appointment.

If I didn't have a scale at home to weigh LO I think I would go mental. Every week I look forward to weighing him. It gives me reassurance that he is eating enough (EBF and FTM with a 5 minute nurser).

I had a visiting nurse (LC) that came once a week to weigh my LO and discuss how BFing was going for almost 2 months. I miss the weekly weigh ins a lot, especially since I'm giving him more if my milk now and less formula.
  • For those who miss the weigh-ins, check and see if there are any company that offer classes around your area.  There are two major companies who do in my metro area, and they both offer free drop-in times throughout the week (whether you take classes there or not) where you can hang out with other moms and/or just weigh your LO.  I know a lot of ladies who go there, weigh, feed and then weigh again, so they know how much their LO is taking in, especially as they're getting ready to go back to work and pumping.
  • Our pediatrician does monthly appointments through 6 months, then we go at 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 yrs and then yearly after that.

I thought everybody did monthly for the first six months!  Are you guys Canadian?
  • I am Canadian. I think our visits are 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 1 year, 18 months, 2 years and then annually. If I remember correctly.
  • I'm American. Did monthly until 2 months, now it's every 2 months.
  • I feel the same! When we left our 2 month appointment and the pediatrician said "See you in September!" I felt all sorts of anxious!!
  • I go to a breastfeeding support group at the hospital twice a month and they do weigh ins every time. Now I'm going back to work in going to miss those meetings/weigh ins. I also wished LO had monthly ped appts. I thought it odd that she never had a 1 month one. There's so much that goes on that first month and I had so many questions!

My pediatrician/hospital does 2 days after released from hospital, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 month, 4 month, 6 month and so on. And I'm in washington. I guess it just depends on who you see.
