LO Imitating You

So I've read a lot of posts about our LO's imitating us and I just don't see DS doing this.

I'm just curious what types of things you moms are doing that your LO then imitates. The only things DS has copied is sticking out his tongue and opening his mouth really wide. But those could have 100% been fluke as they're things he does on his own too.

Ideas for me to try?

So curious about this! Little to no imitating over here, too (despite Mama looking like an idiot making faces all day).

Sometimes I try to imitate her and she seems to get really excited about that.

I make sounds to her that I know are easy for her to make back. I tried to get her to say "mama" and I got her to say it once, but I was so surprised by it I think I scared her out of saying it again.

Those are the only thing DD imitates as well. Oh, and if I say hi in a certain sing song voice then she mimicks the sound.

She does seem like she is taking in every aspect of my face and voice and coos like mad while we "converse". If your LO is doing that at least to some extent I would think everything is good. I too was taken aback at all the posts about mimicking at this age. And this is my third one!

DS loves when I make excited faces or gasp. I haven't gasped so much in my life but it's worth it to see him smile

@MrsWhiteToBe - I know one time DS said mom. It was totally a fluke but it made me SO happy.

Yea I'm not really sure what imitating these babies are doing? I guess if I smile, she smiles...is that imitating?

Mine says mom everytime he gets really fussy! He tries to make all the zoo animal noises in this silly song I made up and we had a screaming match the other day until he spit up and I was like nope not doing that again.. I literally talk to him all day.

My little guy will imitate me sticking out my tongue and raising eyebrows. Once in awhile he will imitate a sound. Most recently he started imitating blowing raspberries! It's super cute and he is so proud of himself, haha.
