Baby Carrier?

Which one is everyone looking at? I'm thinking the LilleBaby All seasons...

Re: Baby Carrier?

  • I love my Ergo carrier.
  • Loading the player...
  • I had a Moby wrap I loved with my first but this time looking at an ergo baby carrier. I'd love to hear other's experience with it, especially in relation to the original vs 360.
  • I registered for a moby and an ergo 360, I also just got an offer for a free sling.
  • I have a friend giving me a moby :)
  • I registered for the Lillebaby All Seasons. I tried it on at a Magic Beans and loved it! I love the mesh feature for warmer months & the back support was unbelievable.  Have you gone to a store and tried on different carriers? I thought I was going to want the ergo after the research I did, but found the Lillebaby fit my body better.

  • thats what I found with the Lille also! I tried the original on in a store but saw there are newer models such as the embossed, airflow and all seasons. trying to figure out which one will be the best with my neck issues
  • Are you talking soft-structured or wrap? I'm doing both.

For a soft-structured we will likely get a Tula. DH did a bunch of research and for some reason he's set on that one being the best. I haven't done much research yet ... but there is also a local babywearing group in my area where I can meet up and try a bunch on so I'm planning on doing that before committing to anything.

As for a wrap, I registered for a Moby but I've been hearing that a woven is better because it doesn't stretch out and need to be replaced ... but again, I haven't done any actual research on what a woven is (brands, etc) so I'm not sure if that's a direction I'll go until I know baby actually likes bodywearing.

I just wanted to say I haven't personally had any trouble with the Moby stretching out. I used it a ton the first few months with my son, especially around at home. He had such a hard time with reflux and other tummy issues he really didn't do well laying down so I would keep him in the wrap doing skin to skin and be able to get things done around home that way.

My understanding is it's woven in a way to only stretch one direction? So it'll conform without loosing shape or getting looser. It has been a while since I did any reading on it though so don't take my word for it.
  • I'll probably go with a Solly wrap, and Beco Gemini due to the all facing-positions.
  • We are doing a Lillebaby All Seasons as well!

Here is a you tube review if you are interested....

  • I love the Moby for when they're tiny, and I also have a Tula that I still use with our 15 month old. I plan on using both with this little one, too. Might also look into getting a ring sling to try. Most areas have a baby wearing group that have lending libraries where you can try out different carriers to see what fits you best (and your DH).

I used a Moby for the first 5 months or so. Then we switched to the Ergo. I still use the Ergo with my 2 year old. Love it. And he loves it. He's getting a little heavy for me but DH can pack him around without much trouble.

    Edited because words are hard.
  • I bought an Ergo with the infant insert on Zulilly and just received it today! Happy with my purchase. I will use it to hike and my husband will wear it too. I'm also going to get either a Moby or a Boba wrap for daily wear.
  • We have an Ergo for my husband and I have several woven wraps and a Fidella Fly Tai for me. If I could find one for a reasonable price I'd get an infant Kinderpack but I'm not holding my breath on that one. I prefer wovens because I can get a lot of support and I like back carries when my toddlers are needing extra attention (but I've been using them for over 4 years so I'm kinda set in my ways)
  • I highly recommend looking for a local baby wearing meeting and trying all the different options before you buy.
They can teach you how to safely wear baby in different ways too.

I already have 2 woven wraps, meitai, ring sling and a lenny lamb wrap conversion ssc.

  • A friend of mine has several that she is going to let me borrow.  I am interested in the Baby K'tan since it functions like a wrap but without all the wrapping.  I'm going to ease of use.  I'm afraid I'll get frustrated with the complicated wrapping and have a break down in a grocery store parking lot or something, lol.
  • I registered for the Moby and Ergo. I would like the Tula but since it's not offered where I am registered, I'll try those first.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I am registered for the Baby K'tan as well because it seems to be the simplest of the wraps. I didn't wear with my first so I want to try it out before investing in a more expensive carrier and I think I want the wrap for the first few months and then I'll want a more structured carrier.
  • My grandmother just bought me the four in one ergo. I'm SUPER excited about it. I know I'll need it with my one year old DD & the three other one year olds I watch weekly!
  • I just got my Tula Star in the mail on Monday, I'm so excited! I have 2 NuRoo shirts for the first few weeks to do skin to skin baby wearing, and then I'll probably register for a wrap as well for before LO is big enough for the Tula.

I had a boba wrap (really similar) and it didn't really stretch out but it would get loose I guess after a few wears, once baby got heavier. I just throw the whole thing in the wash and find it as good as new!
  • I chose to go with the lillebaby over the ergo. I'm a FTM and haven't used either, I'm sure they're both great. I chose the lillebaby because you don't need to buy an extra infant insert.
  • stephaniearlyn  which lille did you choose? I think i'm leaning towards embossed

So far I've been gifted used moby wrap, ergo original, and a boba. The ergo isn't 360 so that's a bummer. I'm also registering for a ring sling but wouldn't buy it myself if not gifted it- they're so expensive for just material and a ring!

    STUCK IN A BOX.

The 360 is great simply so baby can face out, but the 360 also has a velcro waistband which I've heard is really loud when taking it off and can potentially wake the baby (friend has it and hates that feature) ... my sis has the original ergo and loves it even without the facing out option and the lack of velcro at the waist makes it much quieter!
  • The Lillebaby is a good carrier. Tula, ergo, Beco, and Boba are all great brands. Check our a babywearing meeting to see what it's you best! I mostly wrap, but my husband prefers soft structured carriers. I'm getting him a Beco Butterfly II, it's an older carrier, but has an infant insert that's not super hot and is easier to do back carriers. I love ring slings too for the newborn stage and then quick up and downs when they are older. I'm pregnant with twins so I'm stocking up on my newborn wrap stash for tandem wearing!

Ergo360 was so comfortable for dh and me. I know it's loud but the velcro waist feels amazingly supportive...and I can get the whole thing on and easily adjust without any help. We just figure we'll take baby out and put him down if he's asleep then take off carrier in the next room..
  • We were gifted a boba wrap and a baby bjorn original. I'm thinking I'll use the wrap more and the baby bjorn will be for DH later on.

I decided to register for the lillebaby complete. I wanted the front facing out position & that limits options considerably. Of the choices, I like lillebaby b/c of the better frog leg positioning than some. Although not as good as the ergo 360, there is no infant insert required, plus I heard the same thing about the Velcro as a pp said. I liked that the weight limit was higher than others (I think the becco baby Gemini, which was my other big choice b/c-made in the usa!) it goes up to 45 lbs, which I might not be able to do, but my man can & we can use it for a long time on hikes. I was torn between the complete & the all seasons b/c I know those babies can get warm! But I ended up going with the complete b/c some reviewers felt the mesh on the All seasons was rough & abrasive on babies skin, left marks, caused irritation, etc. I have very sensitive skin, so I can see my baby having a problem with that. I might look into a wrap for the beginning, but I have no experience, so I might join a baby wearing group near me.
  • I bought a Solly wrap
  • I already have 2 slings and plan to have a collection. I am always browsing for deals and unique carriers.  I can't wait to get a moby,  an ergo for when she is older and maybe the tokidoki lille baby.

best deals on everything - they have moby wraps and ergos, just not titled so, in title. lol

given that we will have december babies LOVE the baby wearing jackets on etsy

Thanks @kyleneum13! I figure i'll stick with what is free for now :) Cant go wrong with a hand me down Ergo

I've heard the Tula is a favorite in the area but I'll stick with the hand me downs I have. I want to also suggest a local baby wearing group that someone suggested above. There are some great get togethers in my area and they let you borrow the carriers if you're a member. If not, you can show up and try them on and ask questions!
  • My current choices I'm going to request demos from big sis on. LÍLLÉbaby is a great 4 seasons carrier that comes down and is mesh, however the price tag is a little high, Lenny lamb my sister is running new an exclusive called "Evangeline's metamorphosis" for me in a similar pattern she did for my niece Lucie, and the little frog I have with my rainbow was a getting pregnant baby gift, she traded her first wrap for it when Asher (my nephew) whos 2 now for this, and wore it with him a bit so it nicely broken in, but absolutely means a lot to me.

I also have eyes on her ring sling that is shamrocks and she is having a one of a kind wrap made from a white woven material that my best friend is "tattooing" for my baby girl with things that represent me and SO.
