Johnson & Johnson - carcinogen?

my sister just told me about how a couple years ago there was a big article on how J&J has cancer causing chemicals in their products (not the naturals line though). Anybody heard anything about this??

Re: Johnson & Johnson - carcinogen?

  • My mom and I were just talking about this 15 min ago..my SIL also had mentioned it..but idk anything about it
  • Loading the player...
  • It was mentioned in a documentary I just watched on Netflix called the human experiment. Shady stuff, apparently they were aware and had alternate products they sold in Europe and Asia but kept selling the products with carcinogens in the US. I don't trust the company after seeing that
  • Hmmm well my hospital still used a tiny bottle of Johnson and Johnson baby wash when they bathed him and gave the rest of the little bottle to us.
  • I just learned that the talc in baby powder can cause uterine cancers due to the link it has to asbestos. I was using J&J powder (which has talc) and kinda freaked out. Lol. Burts bees uses corn starch which I'll be getting soon.
  • My mom told me not to use j&j. I've switched to aveeno.

I was adviced against all powders because they're linked to respiratory problems. I don't know anything about the J&J, I'll watch the Netflix documentary later today!
  • I have some J and J that says on the front of the bottle and the ingredients that is 100% cornstarch
  • Most baby products, even those claiming to be natural contain harmful ingredients. Dr.Bronners Baby soap is good, and cocobut oil is great for diaper rash.
  • Yes, there's truth to this. The company phased those chemicals out, I think, but they didn't recall the products that were already on the shelves that had the carcinogens. I will never use them because of this. I threw away all J&J products I got from my baby shower and only use Aveeno and Honest Co.
  • My first son had horrible baby eczema as soon as we stopped using j&j his eczema clearly up right away... Thing is we can use aveeno (which is made by j&j for anyone who isn't aware) lotion on him and it doesn't have any negative results.
  • Yes @keniialise You are right! Aveeno is made by Johnson & Johnson ...I was aware of that
  • J&j dries out LO's skin something shocking - a friend is convinced that they put something in there to do so, so you need the baby oil and lotion etc
All 3 of her kids would get dry scaly skin from j&j

My DS also couldn't tolerate it
  • Hmm... I dont know what to make of it. Nearly all my baby's bath products are J&J. My family has never used anything else. Something I'll have to rethink maybe
  • The Environmental Working Group has a great database where you can look up the toxicity of personal and beauty products (even baby wipes.) I check all the products I use on baby there.
  • @nalise88 I checked and the environmental working group site that @julzy mentioned (thanks for that BTW) says & even commends J&J for correcting & removing toxins from baby products. =D>
