what do you do with baby?

FTM, just wondering what type of things everybody is doing with their babies? so far im trying to get in a routine and pretty much just sleeping, feeding and some tummy time. do you sing, read stories, have play time? How do you play with your baby? I feel I should be doing more, but I'm not sure what.

Sleeping, feeding, tummy time and time with her playmat are our main activities. I have older kids too so if LO is awake for reading time or music time she joins us for that on my lap or on her Boppy. We show her toys sometimes but she doesn't seem interested yet.

Also we take walks and run errands.

  • Sleep, feed, tummy time, read books, sing and dance with baby. She is also in early intervention so we do massage and therapy most of the day. When we play with her, we introduce different noises, colors, patterns and textures and we also focus on eye sight, gripping and facial expressions. We are also trying to do self soothing and coping methods with her. So basically not picking her up right away when she cries. Not picking her up too soon or too late. There is a lot of things you can do to keep your baby entertained :) even at a young age, we
Started doing things with her. :D have fun with it and use your imagination
  • My LO still sleeps a lot. But when she is awake, I read to her, sing songs or play music. I take her for walks or to run errands. She usually sleeps thru all that though. I've tried a few toys but she doesn't seem to have much interest. Tummy time is always a pain because she cries the whole time. So we do it, but only for a few minutes at a time.
  • We he's awake, he gets some tummy time, I'll talk to him, he looks at the toys on the play mat. At this age, that's enough stimulation. We will do more in the next month as he stays awake longer and becomes more interactive. Like PP mentioned, if he's awake when I read to DS1, he gets that too.
