Bad temper

My son is 5 months old. For the first 3 months he had colic and was ALWAYS fussy. Now, he is still fussy a lot but mainly I feel he has a bad temper. He screams, claws, and pulls his own hair out often. He even tries to scratch and hit me! I notice it happening when he is trying to do something he can't do quite yet like crawl. Is this normal and is anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Bad temper

  • My son does it too more often when he's tired or frustrated like you said. I just pick him up or distract him with something he likes.

  • I doubt he's 'trying' to scratch or hit you out of temper. They can't quite control their bodies still yet. It's more likely he's flailing in temper, not that he wants to hurt you. Like PP said, distract him with something he likes - being a baby is hard, I look at my daughter trying to crawl or sit up and limit the time I give her to do it, as she too gets very annoyed. Imagine how you would feel!
