Anyone else not feel contractions?!

I am 40 w 4 days, been feeling great and this morning I woke up and felt like crap. My whole body was sore and I have cramping on my right side high. Luckily I had a dr appt.. They hooked me up to the monitor and I was having contractions but I can't feel them! It just feels like he's moving a little more when they happen. I'm scared I won't be able to time them correctly. Baby looks great.. I am 2-3 cm dilated and now bleeding from the check which they said is normal. I guess I'm just feeling super horrible today and needed to vent! I'm going to go home and rest now but I definitely feel different than I ever have this pregnancy and think this may be early labor but don't want to overreact. UGHHH. How do I know when it's the real thing?!

I went into 2 inductions contracting every 2 min exactly but I wasn't feeling them. The were not productive contractions so I wasn't in active labor either.

  • They hooked me up to the monitors the other day and I was also having contractions and not feeling them. I felt one of them but none of the others. Same thing happened with my 2nd. Only then I was 41 weeks and they were getting ready to induce me and I was having them already. My guess is that when we need to feel them we will .

  • Once they are real and you are getting close, you will feel them. Believe me.

This.  Once they start to be productive, you will FEEL them!  Nice to hear that your body is starting though, since you are overdue! (I remember being overdue with my first and sad every day that I wasn't starting)

  • I labored until 6cm because I couldn't feel my contractions. Finally they hit hard around 8cm. Trust me, you will know! My NST's had been showing contractions for 2 weeks before active labor but I couldn't feel them. You can't confuse the two.
  • Good to know.. Thanks ladies! I guess I'm just confused why I'm feeling this achy and thought it might be something.. Going to try to rest it out
  • Yes. Monitor showed I had a contraction this morning but didn't feel a thing. Just not productive contractions...

    Same as this for me

  • Yep, FTM and last week Wednesday at my appt I was 4 cm and 50 % effaced with no real contraction pain. The only discomfort I have is pelvic pain related to her position. I'm 39+1 today and each day she stays put is great!

  • This thread has been very helpful, so thank you! And good luck with your labor and delivery!!
  • None for me at 39 weeks
  • Doctor also told me I'm having them even though I don't feel them but they will get painful enough when it's time to go in unless I'm not human.
  • yesterday i went in to have mine monitored according to the doctors the machine showed I was having them i didnt feel anything. I was there for 4 hours and the whole time i was thinking IM STARVING theses are NOT CONTRACTION they are hunger reports lol
