Painful sex

I'm 16 weeks and had sex the other night and it was very painful. We hadn't had sex for a few weeks from being apart and very busy. Is it normal to have painful sex or during pregnancy do you have to have sex in different ways....hope this isn't stupid. Thanks

    What was painful about it? Was your belly in the way? Was your vagina dry?

    Neither, it felt like he didn't have any room to even enter amd then when he did it just felt like he was hitting things...he said it felt normal to him

    Hmm. Well, I don't know then. Maybe try some lube and see if that helps.

    I second the lube. It definitely helps, as I have found that I am more sensitive (in good ways and bad) during pregnancy. Also, try different positions. Without being too specific, we have had to be a little more creative as things have progressed. There are certainly some positions that are more comfortable than others. Don't be afraid to communicate with your partner!

    Pregnancy can definitely make you more swollen down there as the area is filled with blood, and if you haven't had sex in a few weeks it could feel really different and maybe painful.
