Glucose Fasting #

I'm aware that every hospital varies on what they consider a high fasting glucose score. I was wondering what some of you scored and whether or not it was considered GD. My results are still pending but I saw my fasting score was 92. I've read mixed reviews about 90-95. I had GD with my past pregnancy and I feel like this was about what I scored last time.

Re: Glucose Fasting #

  • My fasting numbers have a tendency to be high. I am currently on insulin, but every once and while my numbers climb back up. *sigh* oh, the joys of GD. My higher fasting numbers are usually 97-110ish.

I seems to depend on the hospital. Mine is supposed to be under 95. I've seen some having to be under 90 though.

I my test I was at 96. So I barely failed that one. I failed the 1 and 2 hour too.
  • I did not get my fasting score, but after my 1hr test I scored a 132. My doctor cuts off at 135 so I barely scraped by.

fasting is only for the 3 hour.

    I didn't know there was a fasting score. I passed with a 115 at a 139 cut off.

Thanks, guess that's why I didn't have it!
  • I am at 65-70 when fasting
  • Usually for the test, 95+ is a fail.

My target for fasting was to stay<90 after I was diagnosed with GD.
  • How long did you all feel sick for? I drank the juice and 8:30 this morning it's now after 11 and I still feel like death. I've tried doing everything including taking a long nap.. Ugh!
  • My number was 107 after the GTT they said I passed.
Too bad my hemoglobin was low. I was told to take an extra iron and eat better...I've had low iron my entire life I don't think diet will change anything I've tired. I probably have an absorption issue.
  • My fasting is usually in the 80's on a typical diet, but at the one hour mark during the three hour test my blood sugar was at 400.  Needless to say I failed very very badly.

Calcium and caffeine inhibit iron absorption.  Maybe try cutting back on one of them, especially around the time you take your iron pill.

At my dr office they make us fast for all the glucose tests even the 1 hour.

But they do not take a fasting blood draw. That's what we were talking about.

Mine has us fast before hand and took a fasting blood draw at the 1hr.  It seems as though every doctor/midwife does things a bit differently.

  • Thanks for the advice @VexedMommy
  • To the OP, my OB's office considers 95 or above to be high for fasting. I had my 3hr yesterday, and I passed but also sort of failed. My fasting was good, (79) and I passed the 1 and 3hr checks but I failed my 2hr at 177, (154 was the cutoff). OB said that getting 2 out of 3 hourly checks within range is passing, but that the 2nd hour is considered the most important... No idea why. So since I failed my 2nd hr and my 1 and 3hr were barely in range, she is referring me to a diabetic counselor for diet planning. Sounds like everyone does things just a little differently!
