Daily Symptoms- August 12

Daily check-in! Post all symptoms, questions, and concerns here to try and keep the board streamlined :)

I'm posting this thread today so late because my biggest symptom today is apparently fatigue! I slept until 11:15 and then kept falling back asleep until 12:30, when I finally forced myself to wake up. I think my head is in an allergy fog...I used one spray of Flonase, even though it's on the iffy list, because I just couldn't deal anymore. I've decided to not be paranoid and that one nasal puff isn't likely to even make it to baby let alone affect her.

GTKY: Any crafty ladies out there? Making anything for baby? I wouldn't consider myself crafty, but I just learned how to knit last week and have already made 3 squares for a patchwork/checkboard (when I decide if I want to add a third color or not) blanket.

Re: Daily Symptoms- August 12

  • Symptom wise I'm doing pretty good. The stomach is a little unsettled and I'm tired, but since that is all, I can't really complain.

GTKY: I'm trying to put together a box of activities for my 2.5yr old son to keep him busy while I BF the new baby, as well as a "grab it yourself" snack area for him, and a BF snack box for me. Hopefully I will get these done before the baby shows up, but life with a toddler happens at its own pace, so we'll see. That is about as crafty as I get really.

  • Well I haven't been sick yet today and I had chocolate pie for breakfast so today is much better than yesterday. Also, at 18+3 I think I'm starting to feel him move. I've been feeling like popping feelings for a few days but I didn't think it was him until I realized it's always after I eat and I don't have gas lol.

GTKY: I have been knitting and crocheting for a couple years now and made a bunch of stuff for my niece last year that I'm waiting to get back from my sister when I see her. So far I've made one blanket and started a second one for this baby.

These are a few things I made for my niece :)
  • MY BACK HURTS SO BAD. I sit at a desk for 8.5 hours a day, and it doesn't even matter how much I get up and walk around. My back starts to hurt around 10:30, and by 2:00 it's KILLING ME. I spend the rest of the day squirming in my chair and looking ridiculous. I bought a lumbar support, and can't WAIT for it to arrive. Hopefully it will even help. When I Google pregnancy back pain, it's all stuff about lower back pain, but mine is in the middle to the top region.

On a side note, my nausea has gone away. I'd take back pain over nausea any day of the week.

    Me (26) & DH (31) expecting first baby 1/19/2016!
  • @cawalp Oh, you have actual talent! haha. The blanket on THAT ADORABLE BABY looks like more or less what I'm attempting to do :)

  • My back and feet have been hurting quite a bit
  • I am 20weeks on Friday & I am pretty sure I felt my first flutters today! :)

(I have anterior placenta) So I knew it could take longer.
  • @CaraBoonie for blankets, crochet is so much easier. It goes a lot faster and it's easier to attach the squares! I learned to knit first and after that learning to crochet was so much easier. I used youtube and just spent a few hours doing stuff and tearing it apart and it comes so easy now. Now I like crochet better and only knit for hats or stuff that I need to be a little smoother :)
And yes that is my beautiful niece, she looks like my sister in the picture but now she is a spitting image of her dad!
  • Fatigue and leg cramps during the night, as if having to wake up to pee a thousand times wasn`t enough!
GTKY: No talent whatsoever and not even attempting to make anything myself.
  • Headaches, and my belly muscles! Seriously, my belly feels so heavy when I'm standing. My muscles are so strained right now. I'm taking baths religiously.
Tomorrow is payday and shopping day. I'm highly considering purchasing a belly band or some sort of support for the belly.

Baby is moving like crazy lately. Huge movements you can see. I get a half hour of a break at a time, when baby is still. And then a good twenty minutes of constant kicks. I was able to lightly touch my belly, and stop and baby would kick when I touched. It was like we were playing a game. I love this little bean.

On a good note, we find out sex on Monday. That means baby shopping! :D

GTKY: I have two different balls of yarn and a hook. I've considered digging them out to make a blanket for the little bean, but I have no idea how to make a blanket. Maybe researching how to do patch work? It'd be neat to have something made by me from me to the bean.
  • @mommaSimpkin that's why I decided to do smaller patches (and figure out how to join them later, haha). I started knitting a blanket-sized blanket, and immediately realized that one wrong stitch could ruin days and days of work...whereas each patch only takes about a day (a little less as I get faster), so if I mess up one patch, the world won't end. I've never knit before, but I was pretty confident I could figure out the very basics of looping string around sticks (no offense to real knitters, I'm sure I couldn't do anything fancy and gorgeous) to get something not perfect but good enough, and thought it'd be nice to have at least one item that I took the time to make by hand for my baby.

  • I had pizza last night with my sister and at the time I thought it was a good idea until I woke up at 2:30am and ran to the bathroom to throw up. Fell back asleep an hour or so later and up at 6am for work. I flew out of the bedroom so quickly I woke DH up. (Sorry honey)

GTKY: I'm all about learning a new craft. I can knit but I don't do it as often as I should. I make homemade wreaths for holidays. I decorate cakes but that's kind of a job/craft I suppose. My next endeavor is quilting! There is a site called Craftsy that has online classes to learn how to craft certain things. It's awesome.
  • @fishee333 my back and feet started hurting way early, I think it's because I'm all my feet all day at work. If you find a solution to ease the pain let me know!
  • 16+6, and sooooooo hungry. Trying to limit my weight gain but I need to eat every hour or two! Also many toilet trips, and sleeping poorly at night. But no sickness or fatigue this week, so I'm happy.

GTKY: No skills or talent, but I'm planning on making a scrapbook for baby. Since I expect to not have much time, I'm hoping to pre-make pages and add photos later.
Looking at all your skills, I'm tempted to try and learn something basic. Maybe simple crochet or something.
  • @Ebiejay I had a family friend teach me how to do a basic knit in like one hour! I now do it while I watch tv and I feel a little more productive (because I was going to watch the tv anyway, haha).

I'm also hungry every 5 seconds! I haven't gained any weight yet, but I'm expanding nevertheless. I'm going to talk to my doctor about the lack of weight gain at my appointment on Monday, but my mom said she hadn't gained at this point with me, so I've decided to be chill about it until then.

  • @CaraBoonie Everything I've read says that it's common and fine to not have gained weight yet, but always good to check with your Dr! What are you snacking on? I'm trying to limit it to fruit, cheese strings, milk etc but it often doesn't fill the gap.
I don't think I know anyone round here to teach me a basic knit, but I'm sure Youtube or Pinterest will have the answers! It's good to know it's not too hard.
  • @Ebiejay I'd like to say I'm eating tons of fruit, but as you said those things just don't seem to curb the hunger! Only carbs seem to make the gnawing hunger stop...If I could, I would live on loaves of bread and bowls of pasta, but I've been snacking on Goldfish and Smartfood popcorn which seem to do the trick enough to tide me over until dinner when my body insists on pasta or it won't shut up, seriously, I've tried everything else and nothing fills me but pasta!...you would think with all the carbs I've been eating I would have gained something, I know I would have pre-pregnancy, but I guess this baby just is soaking up all the potential fat energy as growing energy or something.

Holy back pain! I started a prenatal yoga class Monday, and a few of the poses seem to help, so I've gone so far as to get down on hands and knees in my office during lunch and it makes a difference (and me feel like a crazy person :) ). GTKY - I own a yarn shop and have been knitting and crocheting for 20+ years, and I have made this kid exactly 1 tiny newborn hat. This pregnancy is killing my knitting mojo! Its especially problematic because making new projects is part of my job and I haven't been doing that either!

@CaraBoonie - I used Flonase sparingly in my first pregnancy and all was well. As far as curbing hunger, I wish I was in that camp. I need to be eating more protein for baby esp as there are growth concerns, but I am finding it hard to do so. Not sure if you like smoothies, but if you do chia seeds are good for you and filling/help you stay hydrated. A serving is usually a tbsp but I use less. It also adds a nice thickness as well. Warning they do have a chewy/slimy consistency but take on the flavor of whatever they eat.

As for back/hip pain - I found prenatal yoga and Qi gong really helpful at loosening/relaxing those achy areas. Qi gong also helped with digestion. It is super gentle!

GTKY - I enjoy photography. Not much time to be crafty but I'd like to learn to sew/quilt.
  • Today, woke up to crusty nipples! Guess I was leaking. Also, today is out 20th wedding anniversary, and my husband gave me a gentle, non penatrative orgasm since I have placenta previa, and have been sex deprived since the 4th of july. No bleeding or cramping so life is good!

I've got some onesies on deck to tie dye at some point. Kinda want to know what flavor baby we are having before I get started.
  • Not really a symptom but just dropped my iPhone right on my belly while laying down :( now I'm nice and stressed!

I'm actually an art teacher who doesn't do much art on my own anymore! I always say in the summer I will start a new project! I have been working on a photo album but not sure if that counts!
  • At home sick today! Second time i have had a cold in a month (winter here). I think it's great that my boss can bring her toddler to work, but I wish she would stop coming to work when they are both sick and spreading their cold/flu germs!
Other than that, enjoying the reassurance of feeling bubs kicks getting more frequent/stronger slowly (18w and 4d). Had my first sleep with my new body pillow last night, totally worth it! Also, ive realised that the funny feeling in my stomach is braxton hicks!
GTKY. I havent started anything yet, but Ive started collecting ideas and supplies to crochet a blanket (once I learn how to crochet!), as well as make a few quilts, perhaps a bunny/teddy, and some diy nursery art. Just need to find the energy after work to do all this!!
  • Just pooped after over 24 hours without...I never realized there'd come a time in my life where EVERY poop felt like a victory.
