Had to change birthing plans -- tubal

love my doctor we talked today and she asked me if I have plans to tie my tubes which I do. She said well I can't do it at the hospital you will be giving birth at bc it's catholic. The only hospital that I can preform this at is at so and so. This other hospital is 30/40 mins away. I'm nervous bc it's further and traffic in that area sux. I don't want to in the news for giving birth on the side of the road. Maybe I'm just acting to dang paranoid and but the bright side is that the hospital severed the parents lobster and steak after deliver lol that's a plus bc this small hospital didn't even have a cafeteria ;)

Re: Had to change birthing plans -- tubal

  • My hospital is an hour and a half away, last time it was 2 hours away (just moved closer)

I'm sure you'll be just fine ;) Good luck! Sounds like a nice hospital, mine didn't even give me a menu the last time and I went over a day without eating (hubby had to order us food)

  • I'm just nervous bc this is baby #3 and I'm not sure how fast I'll give birth. So next 2 week appt I'm going to discuss my plans
  • Are they doing it following a vaginal birth?  If so, could you have the birth at your preferred hospital, then have the tubal a few weeks later at the other hospital?

I'm having a rcs with tubal while they have me open, and I also had to change hospitals due to my preferred being Catholic.  If I were doing a vaginal birth, I'd give birth at my preferred hospital then my tubal at the "required" hospital.
  • Yes she did give me the option to do that which I wanted to do but this hospital is a lot bigger and has specialists bc I've had lots of on and off bleeding and she thinks I'll receive better care there. So I said ok lol :) I'm 32 weeks and baby has dropped and all I have is the crib and my baby shower is a few weeks away ...eeeepppp
  • My hospital is 40 minutes away w traffic... maybe I'm naive but that's the least of my worries. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but the hospitals closer to me (I pass at least 5 on the way to mine) either suck or I didn't like the facilities enough to trust them w my delivery. I made it last time with plenty of time to spare and as long as I don't bs I should be fine this time, and so will you :)
  • Lol I hope so i would hate to have a YouTube video and appear on good morning America LMAO
  • This is my first child so I'm less worried about a super fast labor, but my hospital is just over an hour away - not accounting for significant traffic. They have some OB patients who travel even a little further. Hopefully, with this being your third child, you'll be more attuned to the earlier symptoms of labor?

Also, I want lobster and steak after delivery!! That makes the extra drive worth it, IMO.
    ;)

  • I read this as tuba instead of tubal and was very confused.

It is worth it, my hospital is 40 minutes and I still made it in time to get an epidural and everything ;)

  • I have the same thing going on with my hospital, since it's Catholic. If I have a c-section, I'm going to go ahead and get my tubes tied while I'm cut open . . . Now I haven't heard anything about steak and lobster being served at the other hospital. If only.

  • Lol well t first child my water broke and we live in a military post so we were 5 mins away. My second child I had a scheduled induction so this one will be a mystery as far as how I will go into labor :) worse case scenario I go in labor and I have a family member to drive me and get there before the father bc he's job is 40 mins away from hospital.
