2nd Trimester

For those of you who know what you're having...

Did you post about it on FB?  I'm pregnant with my second baby after 17 months of trying.  When I first got pregnant, I promised myself that when we found out the sex of the baby I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. I think I just felt silly getting excited about whether it was a boy or girl, considering we'd had a tough time just getting pregnant in the first place.

Anyway, we found out last week we are having a girl. Results of the 20 week scan came back and everything looks great. I've shared the news with a few friends but now I'd really like to post about it on FB. Nothing over the top, just a cute picture of my son playing with a pink balloon, or something. On one hand I'm like, "No, that's silly," and then on the other hand: "How often in life will I get to do this? Might as well enjoy it!"

Would you post?

Re: For those of you who know what you're having...

  • I didn't, but I haven't posted about my pregnancy at all; most of my fb friends don't even know I'm pregnant.

    Wouldn't a simple "it's a girl!" suffice?
  • Loading the player...
  • We waited till we found out the sex of our baby to post it to facebook, so 18w, a lot of people knew I was pregnant because they would see me out and such. We got our 3 almost 4 year old to announce it !
  • Actually, a friend of mine recently posted, "It's a girl!!!!!" and a bunch of people got confused, thinking the baby was born already. So I wouldn't use those exact words but I would keep it simple. Like "Sebastian's getting a sister," or something.
  • We aren't doing anything. I figure people that are close enough to me will find out eventually. Facebook can find out at birth. But I don't see it as a big deal.
  • I say do what you feel I personally don't see anything wrong with it. My mom was the one to actually announce it on Facebook because she's so excited, but it didn't bother me it's not like I have anything to hide and plus I'm huge so who's going to miss it Lol. I say go for it and Congrats on your healthy Baby Girl!

Do whatever you want!!! It's your beautiful baby girl! You're allowed to celebrate! :)
  • I didn't post but mostly because I have a few facebook friends who were dealing with late stage losses/ miscarriages/ fertility issues, and I just decided that no one in that situation needed me to rave about my baby.

Having said that, we haven't posted on facebook at all, but will once baby arrives.

  • With my last two I posted a simple "it's a boy!" And "B is getting a baby brother!" Along with a profile ultrasound pic. This time around I'm wanting to keep our pregnancy off social media and just enjoy it more privately with close friends and family. We're actually going to be more private about my pregnancy in general and may not even share the sex or names with anyone until baby is born. To each their own. Your pregnancy, do what you want.
  • We are spread out across the country from friends and family, so I have beensharing news via Facebook this time around. We did a pic with our son in a big brother shirt to announce baby, then a pick with one of his hand prints on my shirt/belly to reveal gender. Called the close friends and family to let them know first though...
  • My profile pic is what I posted on Facebook. I say go for it and celebrate! Congratulations! :)

Go for it! Don't feel bad about being excited about the fact it is a girl! I think this forum sometimes makes you feel guilty about things like that when you really shouldn't! Its exciting and the idea of your son playing with a pink balloon sounds adorable!
  • I'm pretty active on Facebook so everyone knew I was pregnant and that we would be finding out what we were having and so after our gender reveal party, I posted a picture of my husband and I opening a box of pink balloons. A friend of mine told everyone when she was headed to her anatomy scan and then later that day posted a pic of a pink and blue lawn chair and her sitting in the pink one.
  • I did!

  • Thanks everyone! Haven't posted anything yet but I might do it tonight... Thanks for helping me think it through.
