3-4 month growth spurt/ 4th wonder week leap

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering how sleep has been effected by the 4 month growth spurt and 4th wonder week leap? My little lady was a great sleeper until 4 nights ago where she is needing lots of resettling and an extra feed. Is anyone doing anything that's helping I can try to help her sleep better again? She used to only get up once for a feed and that's it.

Re: 3-4 month growth spurt/ 4th wonder week leap

  • So far the babe went from being fussy about naps to screaming bloody murder when I start the nap/bedtime routine!! He is still sleeping one 5 hour stretch at least (he used to sleep a 6-8 hour stretch at least 5 nights a week for the last two months). But I'm holding my breath for the worst still to come!

  • We went through this at 16 weeks and I was initially nursing her at every waking (she went from 1 night feed to like 4-5 wakings, ugh) but LO would nurse 5 mins and then drift off again. So, I decided to try other soothers- did pacifer, redo swaddle, kiss. Sometimes a hand on her chest til she went back to sleep, but I tried not to pick her up. It worked sometimes, sometimes I'd just have to nurse again, but it was all overwith in about 10 days. Now she's doing a good 7-8 hour stretch *bliss*!
  • DD had a really rough stretch at 14-15 weeks and was waking every 2 hours. I just fed her a lot and after about 10 days she got back to about 5 hour stretches. Good luck!
  • 4 month sleep regression. It's a permanent change cause now baby goes from deep sleep to deep/then light sleep. If baby can teach themselves eventually then great but you can help teach baby sooner. Baby needs to learn how to self sloth self back to sleep. We did sleep training and it did wonders!
  • What did they suggest in the sleep training?although last night she did sleep from 740-345... Hopefully it's over!
  • We sleep trained our little guy, too, and he's been sleeping at least 7 hours straight, and often 10. It's a super controversial method, but it does get results. Check out "solve your sleep problems" by Ferber. We used the progressive waiting method. While I get why some parents are against it, as a mom going back to work, I need sleep to function and meet the needs of my DS.
  • I have followed the book the baby whisperer religiously since she was 5 weeks and she is a great sleeper usually 10 hour stretches she wakes for one feed and sleeps for another 2-4 hours...I absolutely recommend it for sleep training as it doesn't use crying it out. Just know you need to commit atleast a solid 2 weeks to sticking to the same method! For me I saw results in about 3 days..I also put her down wide awake and she puts her self to sleep...(im not bragging I am giving all credit to this book!)
  • Who is the book by Cam? There are a few books trading under 'baby whisperer'. I will definitely read it.
  • It is by Tracy Hogg, she has two versions this one is baby whisperer solves all your problems by teaching you how to ask the right questions. The books about a lot more then just sleep training and is for up until age 4, she also addresses different styles for different types of babies which I think is great!
