When did your morning sickness start?

Hi ladies, I am popping over here from 1st trimester! I am nine weeks and haven't a hint of morning sickness! I wanted to ask you guys when your morning sickness began (if you did indeed have it). I did do a search and found many people saying their morning sickness continued into their 2nd tri but not many people saying that theirs began later than 'usual'. I'm wondering if I'm one of the lucky ones who has escaped it or if it is likely or common for it to begin after nine weeks. I am starting back at work soon (teaching) and though I'd probably be relieved to have some m/s (dumb, I know),I know it would be very difficult! Thank you for replying. I know time will tell, I know m/s doesn't necessarily equate a healthy pregnancy and that every pregnancy is different but I'd really like to see amongst you ladies if many began to be hit with m/s further along than I am. Thanks again!

Re: When did your morning sickness start?

  • I haven't had any so far. My mom didn't have any either when she had me, not sure if it's a genetic thing or what. I know some of my cousins had it bad through the 2nd tri.

  • I'm 24 weeks and still haven't gotten morning sickness.
  • You are oh-so-lucky if you don't get MS...i finished up last school year teaching with it and it was incredibly difficult!  :)  Many people don't get it and have totally healthy pregnancies.  :)
  • My morning sickness began around 6weeks and completely stopped at 10weeks! I'm 27 weeks now and have and the easiest second trimester.
  • Never had morning sickness, too rough around 4 weeks in my first trimester I had it when I got to overwhelmed or excited n I'm,at the beginning of my second car rides are really what's hard on me but never too much vomitting occurred...
  • Oh but when vomiting does happen it's the worst!
  • You're very lucky you haven't had it yet and even more so if you never do. I got it at 5w 5d and it lasted until just before 15 weeks. I was still dry heaving until almost 16 weeks in the mornings though. Now I'm about to be 20 weeks
  • MS started at 9 weeks and is just starting to let up now at 16 weeks. Before yesterday, I had three glorious vomit-free days!

  • I never had any with my first pregnancy. The second time I had it from weeks 7-9. Then this time around I've had it since 5 weeks to present day, which now I'm almost 12 weeks. Count your blessings.

Thank you all for replying. It's interesting to read all your replies and I feel like maybe I'm not totally out of the woods but I could be ;) I hope those of you with m/s start to feel better soon!! Isn't it ridiculous that I would almost wish something like that upon myself?! I just wish I 'felt' more pregnant. Thanks again.

  • I started getting m/s when I was about 5 weeks pregnant. I'm 16 weeks now and I still have it, but that may also be because I'm pregnant with twins. You're so lucky that you don't have it...it's the worst feeling in the world.

I know what you mean, but having experienced both kinds of pregnancy (the kind with MS and the kind without) I can promise you, pregnancy is MUCH more enjoyable when you feel "normal". I haven't been able to enjoy this pregnancy at all because I'm so done with feeling sick all the time. I've spent the last 6 weeks hoping time goes by quicker so that maybe the second tri will be kinder to me. I wish I was able to cherish each day but I dread getting out of bed every morning.
  • Mine started at 7 weeks! And it's still going strong at 20 weeks. However, it is something I've just learned to deal with. It's like a part of life now.
  • I'm on my fourth pregnancy and never had morning sickness.
  • I randomly got sick this morning after eating like normal. Weirdest thing. I am 13 weeks and I haven't had nausea since week 10. I hope this does not last long!

  • MS started somewhere between 6 and 8 weeks, it didn't improve at all until close to 20 weeks. Even at 25 weeks I still have it at least 1 or 2 days a week.
