So my little boy is nearly 5 weeks old, and starting last week he suddenly stopped pooping 3 to 5 times a day. My hubby and I were kind of panicking because everywhere I've read says your newborn should still be pooping multiple times a day. But his mood seemed fine, so I put off calling the Dr. I always expected each diaper change to be a poopy one. So after 3 days of no poop and paranoia on our parts, he literally and completely filled his entire diaper with poop. Like, it was everywhere, up his back, almost to his tummy, and even on his thighs. And he's exclusively on breastmilk so the consistency was super soft/ liquid like. I thought that it was just a one time thing, that somehow he became constipated or something (does that happen with breastfed babies?) But he hasn't gone back to pooping regularly, he explodes in his diaper every 3 to 4 days. We've noticed that the day before he finally poops, he gets super gassy and mildly fussy. But other than that he's a perfectly happy baby and doesn't appear to be in any sort of discomfort. So just wondering, any of you mamas have babies who go every couple of days like my little guy? Thanks!
Re: Poop explosion anyone?
He was about 2-3 months. (He's 4 yrs now) the dr said this happens sometimes and not to worry as long as he's not in pain and is EBF. If he hadn't pooped in two weeks and was eating solids there would be more concern. We just played hot potato with him wondering who was gonna get the blow out when it happened. In the end, it was me and it was so bad he pooped MY pants too. I even took a picture of it it was so impressive.

And every poopy diaper is an explosive diaper.
