When will DH feel kicks?

I'm curious for any experienced mommas, or any FTM mommas who are already there... when were kicks and movements detectable from the outside?

I am 18 weeks, and I've been feeling LO wiggle around and I LOVE it and I just can't wait to share this experience with DH.... I tried last night, and baby was going nuts but he felt nothing lol. So if I'm starting to feel more frequent movement now, how much longer in your experiences until they strengthen?

I know everyone is different and every LO may be different, I'm just curious of everyone else's experience with this.

Re: When will DH feel kicks?

  • I am currently 19w + 5 and my DH felt something for the first time last week, but it was very faint and it took him a while to distinguish the baby from my heartbeat and breathing. Last Saturday the baby was kicking around like crazy and my belly was literally jumping, impossible not to SEE let alone feel. It was pretty awesome. It will come! Then you will get the weird movements where your belly is writhing and it's a little creepy, but so cool.

  • It's very excited! I'm just voicing the facts it's been posted very numerous times here. I've spent the last 3 days looking at the same threads ;) but you might as well carry on for insight.
  • Please enlighten me on where this mysterious post is about when DH or SO gets to participate in LO's movement?
  • That's what the search engine is for, I'm sorry, I'm not going to do the leg work for you that you should have. But really, in the most monotoned, nicest way possible, There's other threads on movement, more than just one.
  • Mmmmkay then...
  • yeesh...

  • Well then. That was entertaining to read lol but back to the point of this thread. I am 18+5 and I've been feeling baby kick since about 15 weeks but on 18 weeks exactly was when my DH was able to feel our LO :) then yesterday I was able to have both my sisters feel him kick! It's so exciting when someone else is able to feel baby going crazy in there. I am a FTM so I know I felt him early but I'm pretty petite.
  • Dang it I'm 19+2 and my baby rarely ever moves. I've come to the conclusion that she's either always sleeping, or I have an anterior placenta. Guess I'll find out next Monday at the anatomy scan about the placenta. I think it will be so fun to see the kicks and have Dh feel them from the outside.
  • I'm just so eager for DH to feel it, because at this point, I don't have too much of a belly, and I'm not feeling like crap anymore (Thank god) and needing help. So for him it's a stand still lol. I want him to be able to share this LO beebopping around because it's amazing and has made it so real.

    Thanks for the input ladies
  • @babybluu I know for us to be feeling it at 18-19 weeks is even early for some.... so you may not have anterior placenta your LO may become more active soon!

Also, I'm not exactly worked up about it...obviously you are. Because you tried to call me out and be nasty to me over a damn post that I just thought would be fun.

  • I don't remember exactly with DD but I think it was between 20 and 22 weeks that DH could start feeling it on the outside. He tried last night when the little nugget was moving like crazy but nothing. I am 18+5.
  • Holy cow! Lol that was crazy
  • I'm 18+1 and we both have felt him move! Even though we aren't far along, it still worries me when I feel him a ton one day and hardly at all the next. Called my midwife and her medical assistant says that's normal for how far along I am. Anyone else experience this and the worry??
  • I have! I am also 18+1 and have some days with tons of movement and had a day or two with almost none.....overall feeling it more and more often but yes that has happened to me @mjdally
  • I'm not even going to let DH try until I'm like 23/24 wks. I just myself became able to feel little nugget. The kicks are so random and faint there is no way we could time it out right now.

  • I wish I knew the answer to this too, because I just felt baby for the first time yesterday and DH couldn't feel anything. I just want him to feel involved and be as amazed at our growing baby as I am. I found out at the anatomy scan today that I have an anterior placenta so I'm guessing I'll have to just be patient for a while longer
  • I had the same question in my mind!!! I hope it's soon!!!
  • @BabyRut2015 I was wondering about this and am glad to see this post.. Even I'm at stage where binding know if it's the baby or gas movements.. I have to wait a lot longer :(
  • I was also wondering... I keep
Trying to feel on the outside so I can share with hubby. But nothing yet.... And I freak out when I haven't felt movement in a day.
  • I'm 17w 5d and hubby felt it last week, strong little kick. My sister felt it the other night too. I think it depends on a couple things, mainly the amount of padding on mom's tummy, bc with my first I was obese for my size and it was late in second trimester before his dad felt it. But with this baby I'm back to my healthy size, with a much smaller tummy pad. And you can't feel the baby under the thicker part of my tummy.
  • im only 16w6d I think I've felt a few flutters by I don't remember really feeling anything last time until 20w. Maybe by 22w DH felt something.
  • I'm 18 weeks and have been feeling the baby a couple of weeks now . I had my hand on my belly and the baby kicked and my hand actually moved up a fair amount! I feel the most movement after I eat . My husband was able to feel a week ago.
It kind of cracks me up because I'm feeling movements on both left and right sides (like the baby is punching me on one end and kicking me on the other) lol what a ninja !

I'm a little worried for how its going to feel once the baby gets big! Does it hurt ? FTM here

Been trying to get dh to feel lo for a week now with no luck at 18w3d. I'm sure if I could get his hand there in time he could feel it, but baby seems to hit one spot only once, and not come back. Thinking it might still be a while, ftm so anxiously awaiting being able to include him. A friend with 2 kids said for her it was really late, like 30 weeks before her h could feel, hope I don't have to wait that long!

I wouldn't say it hurts. With my son it was more uncomfortable towards the end if anything. Like he'd find my rib cage and get some body part of his nudged in there, it's definitely quite the feeling.

I'm 18+ weeks and I haven't felt anything. Plus you can't really tell I'm pregnant either. I hope it happens soon tho! I guess I'm just overly worried!
  • You can't tell I'm pregnant either, especially if you didn't know me....lol but you should get some flutters soon! @Knottie68283998
Try laying flat after dinner, and being still, put your hand on your tummy and apply some light pressure.

I keep trying but hubs prob won't be able.to feel for awhile, but I can, good enough for now lol
