Every baby is different. Some love a certain brand, other babies refuse the same brand.
If there's something strange underneath the hood. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. If there's something weird and it don't look good. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. Immediately. If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor. It's for your health and your child's.
I registered for dr. Brown bottles but after talking to some friends who breastfeed and a lactation consultant it just breaks down to what baby will take so don't get your heart set on any certain kind.
FTM here, I went out and bought one of several different brands that got the best reviews since I've heard many people say that babies can be very picky about what bottle they like. I hope to EBF at first, but will need to return to work at some point, so hopefully by then baby will have decided on a bottle she likes and I'll go get more.
We're going to try Tommee Tippee. We have a Dr. Brown's bottle & a Munchkin bottle that we received in goodie bags as well, so if she hates the TT, we can try those, too.
DD hated the Tommee Tippee bottles. Dr. Browns had a lot of parts (but they did help with gas). We did like the Avent bottles the best, but don't forget the ring, they leak everywhere if you do.
If you are BF my recommendation is to try the bottles that work with your pump first. The less things you need to wash the better. I used the Medela pump and bottles (started with Avent which also worked, but I had to wash half as many bottles when I switched to Medela)
Dr. Browns is all my daughter would use, so I'm hoping our son will too since that's what I bought again this time around! There is a lot of parts and cleaning them pretty much sucks because of it, but they are worth it if the little ones like them!
STM here and I used Lifefactory glass bottles with my first and will be using them again with this babe. I love that they are glass and I don't have to worry about plastic (even though almost all are BPA free), I like the additional peace of mind. Also, I love that they graduate with your child - I bought the "sippy cup" lids for them and my son STILL uses them at 3 to drink out of! You can also buy a closed lid and use them for snacks to keep in your diaper bag. They are fairly expensive but very versatile! ($15 a bottle....but I just snagged a couple new ones on sale for $12 at Whole Foods)
I prefer to use glass bottles because now the studies are showing that the bpa free plastic may also be toxic. I used Born Free glass with my two older sons and are reusing the same bottles (just replacing the nipples). When pumping I use the small glass Gerber bottles to store the milk.
Born free glass bottles. We used Browns with my son at first but I became grossed out by how easily they house germs that we switched to born free and loved them, so we plan to try born free again this time.
I used Dr. Browns with my first two. Now I have read many studies that say plastic, even bpa free, can leach chemicals into your milk. I purchased 4 life factory bottles and I think I will also buy some different brand either glass or stainless steel. I think Pura is the name of the stainless one I have my eye on. I figure even if my baby doesn't like the life factory bottles at least they attach to my Medela pump.
DD hated the Tommee Tippee bottles. Dr. Browns had a lot of parts (but they did help with gas). We did like the Avent bottles the best, but don't forget the ring, they leak everywhere if you do.
Omg thissss ^^ we were going to try tommee this time around. With DS we used Avent and he liked them, but omg they were a pain at times. They'd be a whole lot cooler if they didn't have the ring...
This is something I have been constantly changing on my registry. I was thinking going all glass but with as much as we will travel with our daughter we worried about the weight. Plus all the baby bottles say bpa free now. I started with dr. Browns then changed to comotomo they looked very easy to use and clean plus they had good reviews on colic now I have watched family and friends with playtex and changed to the vent air from them. Who knows what I'll change tomorrow.
We are registered for the life factory bottles and since they fit all standard size nipples hopefully she will cooperate and we can find one she likes easily.
So glad this post was started! I started my registry today and just stared at the wall of bottles. I did end up choosing a glass set from born free (I think) mostly because I prefer glass for sterilization purposes. The lady at baby's R Us said if you are choosing for a registry then pick a few single bottles in different brands and then when baby arrives you can try them and then pick. Sounded like a good idea to me.
My first used the Dr. Browns, my second fought every bottle we tried. I BF so she had issues with gas and latching with bottles, finally found the Breast Flow bottles on Amazon. They are harder to find but work amazing, they mimic the feel of a breast and limit the air flow to help with gas. That is what we are planning on using for baby #3.
