I know there has been others posting about gtt. I had my 3 hour, 4 blood draw test today and I think it was botched. They only gave me a 50g glucola at the lab and when I asked if it were correct (because I thought it should be doubled) they said ,"that's what they are using now." It's the same concentration as the 1 hr screening....
While I WAS worried about failing again, I watched my sugar/diet for the last 10 days. Now, I'm worried about NOT failing and the test being invalid and having wasted all that time. I do not want to do the test again...bc ouch and dreadfully boring. I also don't want anything bad to happen to baby. Ugh. I might call customer service in the morning....and scream if the lab tech lied which is likely.
Re: Glucose tolerance test...
Your fasting level is a huge indicator of having GD too. That's one of the most important of the 4.
And watching sugar for days leading up to it will do nothing to help you pass.
I wouldn't worry too much if you pass.
The exercise will help you a lot in terms of processing it if you did fail.
And glucose in your pee means nothing too.
I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago and it hasn't been bad. My midwife told me one of the hospital nutritionists had GD with her own pregnancy. And she counsels people on how to deal with it. It has nothing to do with your weight gain or eating habits. It's hormones. Babies do some silly things to our bodies.
I just read you should stick to low fat dairy in addition to other dietary measures. But is that counter intuitive? Wouldn't low fat dairy be higher in carbs than full fat dairy? If the goal is to keep carb intake low? What your input? I have my appointment at 1030 today hope to get results. Thank you.
I think the fear is big baby and shoulder problems etc. it seems if you can get your diet in check and exercise you can keep insulin levels even and slow the weight gain without harming baby?
You can always try to labor at home as long as possible to avoid induction. Then if you need a little help moving things along you can revisit the idea of pitocin and Epi over c sec. ?
If you are not diet controlled and need to be on drugs most want you to deliver by 40 weeks. I've seen some docs say 38. I would run from them! Most seem to say between 39 and 40 is safest.
I've been told if I stay diet controlled we will not talk induction. But I have a midwife.
If it doesn't stay in the range they want they prescribe medication.
I've been on the diet 3 weeks and I've lost 2lbs. I had only gained 15 as of 24 weeks so now I'm down to 13lbs gained. I'm noticing my bump is smaller and more defined already because I've been exercising a lot.
I'm hoping to stay diet controlled.
So far it's been a blessing. I gained 70lbs with my daughter and she was almost 10lbs. I didn't have GD.
I've be told I should gain about a half a pound a week from here on. So maybe 8-10 more pounds. I would love that!
