I took my baby to the pediatrician Thursday and they gave me vitamin D drops to give him since I'm breastfeeding. Well my baby is now constipated and seems uncomfortable. The vitamin d drops are the only thing different. Has anyone else had the same experience?
Re: Vitamin D Drops
But I was told to do it everyday.
I haven't noticed anything but I also didn't joe it could cause a problem. Next time
I give him the drops I'm going to see if anything is different
We are in week 6, so the gas/poop/fussing issues are at their peak! If I miss the drops here or there I figure he's already got enough tummy issues. Also keep in mind that our breast milk didn't need to contain Vit D until all of the recent concerns about skin damage from the sun - I know my mom gave me "sun baths" and had never heard of Vit D supplements. I suppose we can just choose which consequences are better for our babies.
Breast milk does contain Vit D but most women have "below normal" levels and that's why they want us to supplement. I didn't like all the artificial ingredients in the drops either.

This may help clarify ehy for vitamin d. I EBF and was told that breastmilk lacks vitamin d so we will need to use the supplement.
My gf who is breastfeedind was never told to use vitamin d and her son is the same age as mine.
