Early Arrival?

I've been itching all over for a while now and my Dr. thinks my gallbladder may be backed up. If so, my daughter will have to come out 2 weeks early (21st of next month). I have mixed feelings. Has anyone been through this? Is induced labor harder on the body than natural labor?

Re: Early Arrival?

  • My daughter was born 2 weeks early.  I was induced because my water broke and contractions didn't start.  A break in the amniotic sack is risk for infection. I had an easy labor and delivery. I've heard the pitocin brings on much stronger contractions.  After I received the pitocin, it took a LONG time for contractions to start (several hours). When they did start, the pain was definitely manageable.  I got an epidural and didn't feel a thing. I had a good induction and epidural experience.

  • My goal is an all natural birth aside from induction if it comes to that. Thanks for the share! I keep getting told horror stories of induction pain >.<
  • I was also induced with pitocin due to my water breaking but no contractions. The contractions for me started rather quickly and start to finish (from water breaking to dd1 being here) was about am-11:49am. I ended up getting some iv pain meds to allow me to rest early since we didn't know how long labor would be and it worked out well for me.
  • No advise but what made your Dr check your gallbladder? I'm very curious because I've been super itchy and I might have to go in for more blood work tomorrow.

  • I just told him about my itching problem and he said the gall bladder was the most common problem because the toxins from waste aren't being filtered correctly, irritating the skin
  • I was induced at 37 weeks due to cholestasis and my induction went really smoothly (and quickly). If I needed to be induced again, I would without hesitation, however, I might request it be done a little differently.

The pitocin wasn't really doing anything for me, but as soon as they broke my water, labor progressed very quickly. I know it isn't typically what they like to do, but if I am already dialated like I was last time, I will request they break my water first, then if that isn't working, start pitocin.

On a positive note, the itching stopped less than 24 hours after delivery!
  • With my second child my labor stated on its own at 37 weeks. I was 5 cm when I got to the hospital but my Dr put me on pitocin to speed things along. .. I used breathing and rocking to get through contractions and had a med free birth other than the pitocin. I had pitocin with my first too and had an epidural at 8 cm but I was unprepared that time. ..
  • My legs have been itching NON STOP along with so many other symptoms I've been feeling. We're there any other symptoms with the itching?!!
