Seatbelt?

I'm not entirely too sure where I would post this so I'll post it here and then you ladies can let me know where I can post future questions like this. I always had a couple extra pounds on me so now that I'm almost 16 weeks I'm still not quite showing. But I drive an hour to and then back from work everyday and I don't really know where I should be putting my seatbelt. I tried putting it really low but since I don't have a bump it doesn't get stuck below my belly its more that straight across my uterus. Idk if there's something special I should be doing. Thanks ladies and again sorry if I posted this in the wrong place!!

Re: Seatbelt?

  • A Google search provided me with a link to an article on The Bump that answers this question.  Check it out - https://www.thebump.com/a/how-to-wear-a-seatbelt-when-pregnant.

  • My doc said the bottom belt should go across your hip bones and the top belt in between your boobs. I usually put the top under my arm but thats not comfortable anymore, it put extra pressure on my belly so i switched to in between boobs. Hope that helps
  • I have read that article before, i just get nervous because all those articles tell you is to wear it underneath your belly but sinces mines not really popping its not quite staying that low you know. im just nervous becuase i drive two hours worth of highway driving everyday and people dont always drive the safest or smartest. I have the top between my boobs all the time im just so nervous about my belly. I go to the doctor for my 16 week apointment so ill double check with him too. but thank you ladies, just having those FTM nerves running constantly lol
  • I don't think seat belts even get that tight unless your stopping which still isn't that tight enough to effect the baby so until you start to show just know baby is well protected.
  • I was just worried in case of an accident or something. I didn't want the seatbelt to slam on my stomach
  • Seatbelts lock across your chest mostly. I've been in a couple accidents and once had bruising across my sternum but no soreness or anything in my abdomen. Plus your air bags will deploy at medium speeds. I drive about 2.5 hours roundtrip daily, so I understand your concern. But I'm more concerned about the nasty winter weather we'll be driving and walking in during late pregnancy!

  • That makes me feel much better! And yeah I know that, especially since I'm moving from Florida back to winter wonderland new York at the end of this month. So I'll experience all the snow lol. Good thing my car is front wheel drive.
  • I have a bump belt that keeps the bottom part of the belt on your hips it's put my mind at ease it's called a clipsafe bump belt sure you could Google it.
  • I'll deff have to look into one of those. That would probly put my mind at ease. I just wish I knew about it sooner lol
  • I make sure the wear my seatbelt low but my boobs are so big the dang strap won't stay in the middle! I've hit F cup territory and I would love any suggestions?!?!
  • @willashbaby but doesn't it just fit nicer right between your boobs? Haha.
My seatbelt doesn't bother me too much, I guess I don't really think about it.
  • If it's bothering your tummy you can try a small pillow between yourself and the lap belt.
I had to do that after my c/s last time because it was so tender for a long time.
  • @Chipmonster you would think so but it just pops over and freakin chokes me instead! I pretty much drive holding it or tuck it UNDER my boob!
