So far my pregnancy has been fantastic! Except that I come from a family with three other sisters and a mom who are all very critical. I'm 24 weeks along and have gained 15 pounds. My doctor always says everything looks great and I'm super healthy. Granted I'm not the smallest girl I'm currently weighing in at 190, but I feel like that's okay. However my family has really been getting into my head about how I need to slow down on the weight gain and it's really starting to get to me! Any advice, or similar situations out there!?
Re: Just looking for a little reassurance.
My advice is to focus on what the doctor is saying. They're going off of medical knowledge and a focus on yours and babies health over anything else. I found it helpful to shut down remarks with "the doctor is happy with my weight". The comments didn't stop but it made it easier to let them go and I didn't get as many to my face.
As long as you're eating as healthy as you can and following your doctor's recommendations no one else has any reason to have any concern.
*I really want to say that they can just show it put I have my grumpy pants on today.
I've gained 14lbs total and she said 15lbs is the recommended by 20 weeks. So you're even below that for my doctor's recommendation! Definitely don't worry. I am personally going to try to slow it down a little bit because I've been drinking a lot of juice and really just eating carbs and she said those will start to pack on lbs easier in the third trimester.
Every woman gains weight differently in pregnancy. As long as you're eating healthy (mostly), Your body is just going to do what it needs to do to make the baby. And your family can just get over themselves.
