Baby Registry, how far along are you and have you done one yet?

I am super excited to do one especially since my most recent child is almost 8 and there are SO many new cool things on the market! Have any of y'all done one already? If so, where and how far along are you? Is there a standard time to do it, say after the First Trimester?

  • That's my thought as well, I'm 8 weeks 3 days and I'm waiting until at least First Trimester is done. Lol at the gif!
  • I will start mine for basics when I'm out of first tri but won't really get into it until we find out what the baby's sex is.

That's a great idea as well!
  • The bump app was suggesting I start one but at 8.5 weeks and not having seen my doctor yet, it seems waaaaaay too early! Most of my family and friends don't even know I'm pregnant yet, never mind planning a shower or trying to buy us gifts!

This is my first, so if someone mentions a shower later down the line I will probably do a registry. I'd like to keep items pretty gender-neutral, even though we are finding out the sex.
  • Agreed with everyone.... Way too early! I probably won't start one until the end of the second trimester
  • I have contemplated doing one but making it private until a later date. Babies R Us gives you back 10% of purchases made from your registry. While I am not buying larger items until later, I do plan on getting some smaller things here and there and might as well earn some of the money back that is going to be spent regardless.

I totally recommend reading Lucie's List...   I have a private amazon wish list going on to remember things I would like to get the second time, but it's not much.  I might do a registry just to get the discount, but if you do a registry, go into the store and start it.  They give you goodie bags with coupons and stuff that you don't get if you start your registry online.

  • With my first I didn't have my shower until about 8 months pregnant so it wasn't really necessary to have a registry created early. I started looking early and was disappointed when a theme I loved was discontinued by the time the shower came around. If I could go back and do it again, I wouldn't look at it until later on down the road.

  • I think I created one with DD when I was around 20 weeks. I didn't have a shower until I was 34 weeks along, so 20 weeks was actually pretty early but it was good to get it ready! I won't be registering this time though but I guess I need to make myself a list of some essentials I will need.
  • ill be registering at Target they offer a 15% completion coupon

  • I'm 7w along and I've already started one.  ONLY because we are basically starting over since we have nothing anymore and I'm trying to get a good idea of how much to save up and what to buy along the way.  I'm not really asking anyone to buy anything for us, since this is #3, but the registry will be there in case anyone wants to contribute.

  • I don't think it's too early. I view it as making a list of the things you need and then adding the things you want. It's helpful to be able to add things as you think or hear about them instead of rushing through and doing it all at once. I've started one at one store and just made it private.

Besides, I'm bound to change my mind on certain things as I go, so this way I have plenty of time to get it just right before people will be looking for it. Most of it will be used for additional kids, too, so gender isn't a concern for the bigger stuff.
  • I'm 7.5 weeks and my Mom is already asking about registries. I'll probably set up an Amazon Prime under her address (I live in Canada and she lives in the US). She is itching to start shopping-plus my MIL lives a few hours away as well and she will probably use it as a guide. Since DH and I are both only children and this is our first child our Moms are a bit more gung ho then we are right now. If I didn't have them pressuring me I'd probably wait till we found out what we are having.

  • I'm registering at Target just to get the discount.  Remembering how much I hate the website though.  It's so buggy!

I have an Amazon wishlist of things too.  I always keep an up-to-date wishlist for myself and DS.  Family knows to reference that if they need gift ideas.  So I created one for baby too, I'm sure my mom will want to buy a few things for Christmas.

  • I'll only be registering for the end discount since this is our third.  Haven't even started yet.  I do have a secret Amazon list though, but I only have a few things that have caught my eye - double stroller, pack n play.

  • Oh man, I haven't even looked. I know the baby will need a car seat and a place to sleep and that's about as far as I have planned, haha! This is the first grandchild for my family and I know they'll want to get him/her some stuff, so I figure I'll wait to see how things go.
