Hey guys! Ive been lurking a bit so figured I would introduce myself. My name is Jen and I'll be 31 this year. My husband and I have been married since 2011 and we have one spoiled pup. Ive been pretty adamant I didnt want kids, but once I hit 30 my brain decided to freak me out and do a complete 180 and now I want to! I kept it a secret for a while because I figured the feeling would go away but it didnt. I finally brought it up to my husband who nearly fainted haha. He "isnt against it" but he isnt sure how we will afford it and doesnt seem to want to talk about it much. Im trying to be patient bc he deserves time to think about it...but it seems like once I said it outloud its all I can think about! In the meantime Ive been lurking here, reading everything pregnancy and baby related, and trying to get our savings up a bit more to help assuage my husbands money fears.

My plan, if my husband decides he is on board of course, is to go off BC the start of next year and give my body a couple months to adjust/chart/temp etc and maybe start trying around april?! Ill stop rambling now if you got this far... Im glad to have somewhere to talk about this! I dont want to drive my hubs nuts since he is on the fence as it is. Thanks for reading and hello!

    Hi! Welcome! My husband and I just watched The Great Sperm Race on YouTube, it's a 6 part documentary that we both really enjoyed watching and learned a lot from. I'm also someone that never thought I'd want kids, but this year it's all I can think about. It's so weird how that happens.

    Hi and welcome!!!

    Our plans are similar! I wanted to get off BC and do a hormonal detox too! I just completed my first month of charting and it sure was wonky my first month off BC so that just reaffirms my decision to go off it early.

    My husband isn't too keen about talking about babies either (or maybe I could just talk about it a ton and he's not that into it). The financial burden definitely scares him the most. But he's really come around to the idea now that all our friends have babies and our nephews are adorable. He was on-and-off about the idea about a year ago and we sat down about 6 months ago and made a solid plan. Surprisingly having a set plan to start TTC (December/January) has made him really warm up to the idea. I think he might even want to push it up a couple months at this point. Hope that helps!

    I think a plan will help! I have a tentative one already, but he always seems to shut down when i try and talk about it. I feel like hes thinking we cant have a baby "today", but best/quickest scenario, with my idea right now, is over a year away for baby to actually be here. And id be willing to put off actually tcc a few months if he wanted- i would just rather it be sometime next year if possible since im already 30. Thank you and good luck!
