Prenatal vitamins and nausea

Hi... Week 17 and still have pretty bad ms...was thinking it could be from prenatal vitamins at this point. Anyone else on preplus 27-1 or recommend any otc vitamins that have helped reduce their nausea?? Thanks!

Re: Prenatal vitamins and nausea

  • New Chapter or Vitamin Code Raw both have a ginger complex that's supposed to help with nausea. I switched to the New Chapter prenatal because the Vitamin Code capsule scent made me gag haha. I did like the Vitamin Code vitamin better though, I believe my body absorbed more. Either way, they're both food based which means your body will digest them easier vs. lab created vitamins.

  • I started to take my prenatal at night because it was making me sick. I take it right before bed and I feel fine.
  • I find that taking mine after dinner helps.  I tend to get nauseous if I take them on an empty stomach.  Have you tried a gummy vitamin?

  • I think it depends on the person. I got sick on OTC vitamins (one a day brand) but when my dr put me on a prescription one (prenatal plus) it got much better.. until the pharmacy changed up the brand on me and I got sick again even though they swore its the same. I would try a few different ones and see what works for you. I try to take mine with some crackers even though the bottle says to try for an empty stomach.
  • Ugh, that's the worst! I use honest prenatals. They have ginger, and B6 and I haven't had ANY nausea!
  • I take mine right after dinner.....then lay down for a hour. It usually helps.
  • another vote for the gummy vitamin. I was taking honest company prenatals and they gave me such a horrible gag reflex I could barely get them down. I tried a few others from my sample bag but ended up on target brand gummies. they are so tasty I look forward to taking them each day!

  • I'm on a vitamin called Preg Vit (Canadian) it's two pills, one morning, one night. It splits up the vitamins so that it is less harsh on your stomach. But the morning one I have to take with orange juice or I do get a bit of a yucky tummy.

  • I usually take it after eating a smaller meal, and with cranberry or orange juice. The strong flavor of the juice helps mask the nasty vitamin flavor for me.
  • The prenatal vitamins used to kill me.  Switching to gummies and taking them at night has made a huge difference.

This , when I take it in the AM I feel sick. After dinner has worked great.
  • I take mine before bed too. I was doing the gummy before I was switched to prenate mini. The gummy flavor was too much for me!
  • I take Rainbow Light and I LOVE it! I've never had nausea with it and I always got sick on my multivitamins. I take a DHA with it as well. I can take it with or without food. Love it!!!!
  • I started feeling better around week 12. Not sure if it's because that's when it usually starts to subside, or if it's because I switched to taking my vitamin at night. I take the one a day vitamins. Since taking them at night I haven't been nauseous nearly as often.
