Laser hair removal?

Has anyone else gotten this done while pregnant? I've been getting treatments and really only need one or two more so I would hate to stop now that I'm so close to having it be gone for good. But they have you sign a paper every time you go in saying you aren't pregnant and they told me if I am, I'll need a doctors note saying it's ok to proceed. But does anyone know if it's really safe then?? My next scheduled treatment is a week before my first doctor appointment so I can call and change it but I was just curious if anyone knew first hand.

  • I just read this in the what to expect when you're expecting book, they basically say to avoid it. They said some dr's will say its ok after 3 months, others will say no. So I guess it really just depends on your dr and what you are comfortable with.

  • I had it before I got pregnant with my son and after he came, I swear my hair was angry and came back. So maybe you can save your last few and get them done after baby comes? That way you won't be risking anything and you can deal with some of the anger that pregnancy brings haha

  • Haha yeah I would rather not risk it and the place really really doesn't like to do it, even with a Dr note. They aren't pre paid, I just pay each time so that's good. I'll just avoid it :)
  • I would definitely call to check with your doctor before going, and when in doubt, avoid. It's just not worth the risk!

Part of why they likely won't do it is because there is no point. Hormones during pregnancy cause hair to grow thicker and faster and will likely undo all results you've already seen, which happens with most women who are frequently remove hair via laser or wax.
