Last week I started having contractions Monday night that were roughly 18 minutes apart although I didn't know what it was at the time. I called my doctor in the morning and they told me to come in right away. By the time I was seen at 11 am, my contractions were 3 minutes apart. They sent me right over to labor and delivery to have them stopped. After three shots of some drug and magnesium sulfate, they got them to slow down to about 11 minutes apart. Fortunately, my cervix never dilated. They sent me home on complete bed rest the next day. As I was going to the bathroom, I had a huge mucus ball come out and then I started getting cramps. I went back to the doctors and started contracting again. After laying on the machine for about a half hour, the contractions stopped and I was sent home again. I haven't had any other contractions since Thursday and am back to work now. The baby is perfect healthy and moving and kicking like crazy. I know that no one wants to hear super scary stories and they still arn't sure why I was contracting (UTI maybe), but LO and I are doing fine now and are hopefully out of the woods!
Re: Rough Week
I worry I wouldn't recognize contractions like that if I had them because I've never experienced it and I wouldn't be expecting it so early. I'm glad you were able to get in to the doctor quickly.
