Natural/pregnancy safe products

I'm gonna be honest. I miss my anti-perspirant. In this heat with just my deodorant stick....not cutting it. My mom picked me up a deodorant bar from lush at the airport. Let's see how that goes. I may put that on after showers and in the morning and carry my deodorant stick in my purse.

Re: Natural/pregnancy safe products

  • Why aren't you using your antiperspirant??

  • I read somewhere that the aluminum and parabens in your typical antiperspirant might not be so good? I will ask my doc at my next appointment what his opinion is. I'd love to know who has asked and who is just going for it. I have other things to worry about!

  • Just go for it.  Lord knows pregnancy is a way stinkier/sweatier time.  I've never even thought to switch out my deodorant during my pregnancies and I have 2 extremely healthy sons.

  • I've used natural deodorants for several years now, not due to pregnancy. One mportant thing to remember is that they are deodorants, not antiperspirants. Your body does naturally adjust to the switch but it takes several weeks. If you don't want to use the standard deodorants try several to find one you like. I usually apply 2x a day.

  • Ok- pregnancy drama time. I just tried my new lush deodorant (very messy) and was checking the ingredients (some essential oils are not safe for pregnancy) and it has juniperberry in it. Juniperberry is a no no. I'm sure they mean consumption is bad but I immediately jumped in the shower and washed it off. Yikes!

  • I have two healthy sons and this was never something I changed I would just stick with what you used sometimes we worry ourselves to death over little things.
  • Did you also check your shampoo/conditioner/makeup for parabens? They're in generally all standard products. I agree with the above, I think it's good to be aware but you can also drive yourself crazy with too much.

I had the same worries about antiperspirant and haven't used it since I got my BFP. I'm trying to find a natural one but I know it won't work as well. I've checked my makeup and it seems to be paraben free. So many things to worry about I'm driving myself crazy. I'm going to talk to my midwife at my first appointment in two weeks. I reckon I'm just being a tad too cautious!

  • I've never heard about the antiperspirant issue, I'll have to ask. I use Posh products and they are paraben, sulfate, phthalate free for the rest of my body (lip balms, face wash, hand/body creams etc).

I've used Lavilin for over a year now and didn't switch bc of pregnancy. I like it and I don't really smell (I've asked a few people :-) )

I use Toms deo. Also after shower I lube my whole body with coconut oil, including armpits. Then I apply tons deo. Been working for me.
My hubby has been using HeartMoon deo and it works great for him.
    Check it out: https://www.etsy.com/listing/205825618/organic-handmade-deodorant-stick

I have a sensitive body, pollution like aluminum and paraben do affect my mood and well bring so I go the extra mile to take good care of myself.
  • Toms* not tons lol
