I suppose it's natural for people to be concerned when you've gone past your due date??? Someone please explain this.
Everyone I know from friends to co-workers to in-laws (SIL) to acquaintances have all given birth early. Whether it be emergency c-section, induction with pitocin or membrane sweeps etc! So since I'm "1000 months pregnant" according to one of them (40 weeks 5 days now) they wonder why my doc didn't induce me sooner. Even my mom was concerned why I haven't gone into labor yet! I'm like "MOM, you gave birth to ME two weeks late!!! Don't make me feel like there is something wrong with me!!"
Although I know I've complained about going past my due date I can't help but feel fortunate to have gone full term!
I need a sassy comment anytime someone expresses their "concern" next time....thoughts? Help?

Re: Thanks for your "concern"
More polite but getting the point across "doctors now know that it is not safe to induce before 42 weeks."
But try to keep in mind that *most people just don't want to see you uncomfortable. Moms who have only had early babies don't fully understand what it's like to be on the other side of their due date. And moms who haven't been pregnant for awhile seem to forget some of these annoyances. (Which may be the case with your mom)
Just hang in there and know that baby will come when baby is ready. Try to shrug it off as best you can. In the end, their comments don't matter anyway.
"I'm so sorry YOUR uncomfortable,in pain and miserable.. I'll try to hurry my developing baby up so you can feel better. This must be hard for you to be going threw this."
Although that might be too bitchy? Meh I'm over it.. I personally would just tell them where to shove it right now. Lol O-V-E-R it!
I seriously responded with the same thing to everyone, "patience grasshoppers" and went on my way
I would just say you aren't willing to induce and you and your doctor have a plan. Keep it at that!
This should settle ppl with doubts regarding the due date and delivery.
