Babies on the Brain

Pep talk needed!

I have a 21 m/o and we're "ready" to try for #2. We want 3 kids and I don't want to be having kids too far into my 30s and I'm 29 now. The child I have is boundary testing a lot complete with fits and clinginess much of the time. I'm nervous/apprehensive to add a new baby to that, but don't want a huge gap in age (it'll be around 3 years) and I know it will pass. Words of encouragement? I know some of you have way more kids and 2 sounds like nothing but I'm nervous nevertheless. Thanks!

Re: Pep talk needed!

  • I can only speak for having one kid, but the one I have has tested boundaries like no other; consistency is finally paying off at a month shy of turning 4. I wish we had the right time to have another sooner. I think a lot of his testing was due to not having someone to play with, and he just seeked out opportunities because he was bored.

My husband and I are finally in the best possible everything to add another to our family. If I could have made that happen sooner it would have already been done.

Good luck, friend! Whatever choice you and your SO will make will be the best one for your family.

I can completely relate to this! My daughter has started testing us a lot recently. I was completely on board to start trying and then all of a sudden she just started throwing tantrums, giving us issues going to sleep, waking up at 4:30am! It made me very reluctant to start trying because I have no idea how I'm going to handle all of this with a newborn. After talking with my husband, I realized there's never going to be a perfect time, though. Kids go through ups and downs and can be so finicky! Good luck to you whatever you decide!

Edit: Forgot to add, she's 19 months.

Thank you! You as well! I just keep thinking that she won't always do this and we don't want to have a gigantic gap etc.
