April 2016 Moms

A little overwight & pregnant

Are there any other Mommas a little overweight & pregnant? After my first son, I ended up gaining back all the baby weight & then some. I was able to lose about 15 pounds before getting pregnant but I was wanting to get down about 30 before but that didnt happen. I am in a better place as far as eating better & being more active than with my first but the nu,ber on the scale just freaks me out.

  • Congrats! Try and continue your healthier eating and staying active, it will help!

  • I am !! I didn't lose the weight after baby number two (but he's only 5 months old) and I've gained 50 pounds in both my pregnancies ! If I gain that this pregnancy I'll seriously be as big as a house ! I'm trying to get in the habit of eating clean but it's SO hard !!
  • Do your very best to be conscious of it. But try not to stress, stressing over your weight and numbers is probably harder on you and the baby than the actual weight itself. Like you said you're being active and cautiously eating right. That's all you can do and focus on positive self talk and staying as stress free as you can! You're beautiful mamas!

  • I'm with you. I still had 30 pounds to lose before our surprise happened. I'm still going to be conscious of it, but more along the lines of eating healthy and exercising.
  • I gained 10 pounds over the winter (lots of crazy stuff happened) and then another 10 within 3 weeks of going off of BC. That really messed with my plan of losing weight before baby, not gaining it. But, I'm just trying to stay healthy and will lose the weight afterward.
  • Yup  I've been in Weight Watchers since February in hopes to loose as much as possible before getting pregnant.  I've lost 25 but still had about 30 until my goal weight.  I plan to keep eating as healthly as possible.  Unfortunately I've been starving for the past few days.  Trying to eat a balanced diet.  I plan to do weight watchers again a few months after baby gets here.
  • If it makes you uncomfortable and you know it's a trigger for you, I would avoid the scale while you are pregnant. Even at the doctor's if you want to you can turn around while they weigh you... just let your OB know that you're trying not to fixate on weight but that you want him or her to let you know of course if it becomes an issue. One of my favorite parts about being pregnant is that it really forces me to slow down and focus on being healthy because it's not just for me! So I would say focus on being active and eating lots of healthy foods and don't worry about the weight! You have the rest of your life after baby is born to keep getting in shape :-) Congrats!

  • I was hoping to drop the 20 I'm still carrying around from my pregnancies with DS1 and DS2 and had actually just started back on the weight watchers plan the week before my surprise BFP. My plan is to attempt to make healthier food options when possible but still allow myself to splurge a bit when a craving hits and to keep up my daily walking. I'm hoping that at least helps me to gain a "normal" amount and I will just have to get back after the 20 lbs + after new baby.

  • I am 7 lbs heavier than I was when I got pregnant with my first son. However, I am 30 lbs over my goal weight. I too am nervous about putting on all that baby weight. Last time it flattened out my arches! The plan is to eat as clean as possible and to get into an exercise program she I return from holidays. I'll try to be as active as possible during vacation.
    I hear you!
  • I was freaked out during pregnancy #3 because I gained so much during 1 and 2 (85 and 65!) And i was way over weight to start (260). My doctor told me I could stay on Weight Watchers during the pregnancy and I was able to keep my weight gain minimal. I plan on staying on WW this time around too. If it bothers you too much talk to your dr.
