Re: Job Interview Tuesday

  • Maybe just sit a jar of prego spaghetti sauce on the desk and wink? ;)

Also there were tons of threads about interviews not that long ago that had lots of good advice.

  • I had an interview last week and was honest with them that I will be wanting 16-18 weeks off early next year after I give birth. I told them I would prefer to be up front about my availability. I got invited back for a second interview this week so I'm thinking something worked in my favour.
  • I had an interview Friday haven't told anyone I'm pregnant gonna tell my manager on training day seeing as to our shirts need to be tucked and worn with a belt also which I can't do because I'm wearing maternity pants lol that would look awkward. But I'd say don't say anything at the interview I waited to get all the way in the door because I don't want them to try to not hire me because of it. I wore a loose fitting shirt to my interview as well my bump is very noticeable.
  • I would if they ask when you can start, or at the point of an offer. Not otherwise

  • I would be honest if I was you. I hate awkward situations, and would dread having to go in and tell them after being hired! And they would definitely think more of you if you was honest from the start. Xx

Wait, you asked for 4&1/2 months off? Is that something employers will grant? Are you in the US?

  • I'm in Australia, we currently get up to 18 weeks paid maternity leave on minimum wage from the government. Most women I know have taken 6-12 months off between paid and unpaid leave.
  • Honesty is so key. If the situation were reversed and you were doing the hiring wouldn't you want to know? I would have way more respect for a potential employee who was honest, as opposed to one who was hired and then told me they were pregnant. It wouldn't be a great way to start out a new job in my opinion. Especially since you're due in January and won't be able to hide it for much longer. Best if luck!!
  • @kwentela Congrats! I'm happy that was helpful. Good luck at the new job! I love my new job too. :)
