Too many baths?

Okay so I'm obsessed with having baths I have 1-2 a day followed by a shower it's the only thing that makes my body feel better, as a chef I work long hours and on my feet and by the end of my shift I'm in agony so the only relief I've been able to find is a hot bath. Now a lot of people are telling me I shouldn't be having baths at all? I've googled etc and found mixed reviews some say you shouldn't have a bath when pregnant others say it's completely okay up until you start losing your mucus plug? I'm 27 weeks with my first would love some opinions of the experienced mums?

  • I take a lot of baths and I did during my last pregnancy too. I ran a bath whilst in early labour and I didn't add any bubbles or salts, but other than that I took a normal bath most days and baby seemed to enjoy them too during the 3rd tri.
  • Baths are my escape... I took many in my first pregnancy and am doing so again. As PP said, they just can't be hot.
  • Agree with PP baths are fine so long as they are not overly hot. The only concerns I would have with that many baths is that if you are using salts or bubbles it could lead to a yeast infection, and if you are staying in the bath over 20 minutes they could be drying your skin out. Just annoyances so if you enjoy the bath go for it.

  • I LOVE my baths!! I take one everyday followed by a shower. I have also taken some hot baths to, in my 4th pregnancy and have never had an issue. It was so great I thought I would have a water birth with my last (that didn't happen, hot water was annoying in labor when I was already so freakin hot). I just do water though, but I always have since I already am prone to infections because of poor PH in the down there region.

    Enjoy that bath after work!!
  • I have the same problem that @Cook3133 has that I'm more prone to infections so I just lay in nice warm water and then I take a shower.. I take a shower in the morning.. A bath mid day after I do my morning walks and get the dogs exercised and then I take a shower at night before bed.. And usually somewhere in the afternoon I go to my moms house and get in her pool and swim for about an hour and then I just take a shower there..
  • I only take baths when pregnant since I passed out in the shower once with my first. My dr is completely fine with it as long as the water isn't super hot.
  • Yay thank you ladies! The thought of giving up my baths was so upsetting!! I have switched from using a radox muscle relaxer to just some essential oils just incase... Thank you all for your feedback happy bathing!
