Sleeping with leaky breasts

I typically just sleep in an oversized tshirt but my breasts have been leaking more and it's uncomfortable. I hate sleeping in bras does anyone have any recommendations or products that are not so constricting like a bra??

Re: Sleeping with leaky breasts

  • Try a sports bra style nursing bra. That's what I used after DD was born. Not ideal but much more comfortable than a real bra.

  • Gap body pull over bras, or any similar bralette.  I think I have one from target as well.  No padding or underwire, but something just to hold them in.  I usually just sleep in one of those with some shorts.
  • I have a little nursing sleep bra I picked up at Target, and it's basically just a little bralette, nothing constructing.

You could wear something like that to hold breast pads in place. I leaked like crazy after DS was born (before I bought my sleep bra).

Those sleep bras are awesome! I'd get a size slightly larger than you think you need because they shrink in the laundry. I also second the pads. You can buy cotton ones that you wash and reuse.
  • Since you may need one anyway when LO arrives, I'd recommend a nursing tank or at the least a nursing bra without an underwire. I also recommend buying some nursing pads to slip into the top to soak up any leakage! When I had DD, I had to use a couple nursing pads and change my shirt in the middle of the night for the first few months! Target has some great, inexpensive nursing tanks with a loose shelf bra that I liked.

  • Sleep bras! I lived in them the last month of pregnancy when absolutely all bras became too uncomfortable and I no longer had to leave the house to go to work, lol.

These ones were great. They are pretty good at holding nursing pads in too.

  • You may be able to get some reusable nursing pads for free. I got some a while back, but haven't used them yet. Same parent company that makes the car seat canopies and nursing covers, etc.

If you want disposables, I used Lansinoh and liked those.

If you're leaking you've got wear some sort of bra. Get a nursing sleep bra (they are pretty comfy and not restricting) and put the nursing pads in.
  • FTM- is it normal to be leaking at 28 weeks? I have had spots in my bra past few days and today woke up with a huge circle on tshirt. I have a dr appt tomo so will ask them, just wondering if anyone experienced in meantime !
  • I've been leaking (left side only!) since 20 weeks. OB says its normal it's just super annoying to wake up with a huge spot! I will have to invest in a nursing bra soon! Just keep forgetting. :)
