I voted for Ella, but mostly because I prefer it over the spelling Holli. If you spell it Holly then it may be another story.
    Same reason for me.

Me too. Even with ie I prefer Ella.

  • I agree.. Holly with a "y" or Ella.  The "i.e." ending might be cute until she is about seven... not so cute on a college transcript or grown up resume.

This. If I couldn't see the name on a legal document it got scratched.
  • I vote Hollie :)
  • I love Hollie. My sister in law spells it that way and I think it's cute! Not as common as Ella, but still easy to say and pronounce.
  • Why not mix the two names and call her Ellie
  • I vote Ella or Holly.

Hollie looks like it can be mistaken for  Holy or Holey.

My middle name is Holle with just the e, it's a family spelling, it has confused people sometimes, or my sister teased me as a kid saying my middle name was Hole and call me ray-hole (my first name is Rachel)

Honestly, I didn't really mind the unique spelling because I have such a common first and last name it was nice to have something a little different. People knew how to read it they would just be like "that's a weird spelling". If I was having a girl I was planning on doing the same middle name for her (it's my moms middle name as well) and my husband was like "can't we spell it Holly?" And I'm like "NO."
