Birth Control and Breastfeeding

I plan to ask my doctor about birth control options at my 6 week check up. I *think* I want to get back on birth control, but I'm worried about it impacting my milk supply.

I know people say breastfeeding is a good form of birth control, but I don't trust that.

BTDT ladies have you taken the pill or used other kinds of contraceptives (besides condoms) while breastfeeding? Any recommendations on what to ask for or avoid?

I'll probably be getting Paragard again. We're probably done having kids but don't want to do anything permanent yet.

My OB prescribed me a progesterone only pill AKA the mini pill while breastfeeding. The catch: you HAVE to take it around the same time everyday. She told me to start it one month postpartum.

My doc gave me the option of a progesterone only pill but said you have to be very accurate about taking it the same time each day. If you're off by even an hour you could get pregnant. I've always been reLly good about taking my birth control, but to be on the safe side I'm getting an IUD. I don't have to worry about forgetting anything with that.

I was on the mini pill after both of my daughters. I had lots of spotting on it, I never knew when I would get my period. I hated it and got off both times. Now that we have three kiddos, hubby is getting a vasectomy.

I am doing mini pill & condoms cause DH & I are "one & done"... He will then be getting a vasectomy this winter. I was on some form of birth control, mostly the pill, from the age of 15 to 33! (we have been together 19 years and married 6) it's his turn to take one for the team!

Thanks ladies. The mini pill prolly won't work for me. I cannot remember to take anything at the same time. Based on my LOs behavior tonight I swear we're 1 and done. I think we'll just use condoms until I finish breastfeeding

I got the depo shot and it hasn't affected my supply at all. Depo works really well for me - no periods and you just have to get it once every three months! I can't do the pill because I get migraines and my schedule is too erratic for the progesterone-only pill to work for me.
