Kick Counting Making Me Nutty

Im 28 weeks & my baby doesn't really have a cycle of when she kicks. She just kicks randomly...sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. I've heard you should start counting kicks to be aware of decreased fetal movement. Well it's making me crazy. I fear for the worst when I don't feel kicks then it interferes with my work & everything else. I really don't want to do it. My pregnancy has been smooth so far.

Re: Kick Counting Making Me Nutty

  • My doc said not to bother with counting. She said if I ever feel like I haven't felt her move all day, to drink something cold, lay down and pay attention.

Your baby is probably moving a lot while you are also moving so you don't realize it.

  • My doctor told me to count one time in the morning and one time at night ... She said to eat something or drink a glass of orange juice or ice water lay down on my side and count six kicks in one hour ... I totally agree with @SaraFaye715 your baby is probably moving a lot when you're moving so it kind of goes unnoticed ... Of course if you have a concern then call your doctor :)
  • I knew doing kick counts for me would be too nerve racking so I don't. I just stay aware and know if I haven't felt him all day il drink a sugary drink and lay down to feel him kick. When I'm active he barely moves. He's content when I'm active and constantly moving. Bottom line is if you haven't felt movement in awhile call your OB.
