Contractions Duration

Hi ladies, I'm having contractions for 14 hours now. Quite irregular, 6-10 minutes apart, but they last longer than a minute, more like 1:30-2. However I read that it's supposed to last till a minute. Or are these Braxton hicks? Very painful.
Couldn't find anything on this in the search bar.

I'm 40.2 today.

Sent a message to my Dr, waiting to hear from him. Please share your thoughts. TIA. X :)

    aww I'm having the same thing. following to see what your doctor says! lol. I personally think it's false labor but am also wondering why they are lasting so long

    Dr said to go get checked so I don't give birth at home LOL while imergency on call said to not come till it's less than 5 minutes apart. confused. I think I'll wait an hour or so.

    I would wait until they're atleast 5 minutes apart, just be prepared. Mine progressed very quickly! Everyone has a different experience. I didn't realize I was in labor until they were 3 minutes apart! She was 3 weeks early!

    Mine were like that for 13 hours then very abruptly started coming every 2-3 minutes. Baby came 4 hours later.

    @mtxo mine faded yet again but when they come back they are lengthy like that, I hope you feel better and/or have ur baby soon!:)

    Thanks so much everybody. ❤️ It's now every 6 minutes apart and getting more intense. We'll probably go in an hour or so. Wish me luck :) GL to all.

    My doctor said it's perfectly fine to last longer as each uterus is different. XO

    It may be me but if my doctor told me to go in I wouldn't pay any attention to what emergency on call or anyone else said. My specialized doctor's opinion would trump all others. Good luck!

    Hope it's going well! I'm sure you've been in and have your answer but I wanted to share my experience for others reading this. With my son, my contractions never got to a consistent 5 minutes apart. They were pretty spaced and then one would be 3 minutes, then the next 11 then 9 then 4 etc. all of a sudden they got super strong and maybe 30 minutes later I had to push! I know that's not normal, but I'd say if they are getting really strong like you described, I'd definitely head in. You may be able to avoid an 80 mph drive like we had!
