Concerns at 23 weeks

This is my second pregnancy.. My son is now 3! And Im having a girl this time around. This pregnancy has been so different from day ONE. Literally, I crave things, get them and they arent as good as I was going on and on thinking about. I burp every day ! Over 20 times a day! Its annoying! Now -- as of a month or 2 now. I get a pain in one specific spot, everyday, throughout the day. Doctor says my insides are changing, I am able to take tylenol, and just monitor the pain. But it literally feels like something is stuck to that one spot im feeling. It feels almost hard to do normal movements because of the pain. My other concern. I only feel her, really low. At my 20 week ultrasound, they said shes in position. Head low. Body up. But I only feel the movements low. I never feel her past my belly button. Or even near it. I feel like if I remember enough about my first pregnancy, my son, I felt movement above by this time.

Re: Concerns at 23 weeks

  • Gas and indigestion is completely normal in pregnancies :) I can't say what the pain is, I have no experience with it, but if your OB says everything is ok I would just trust him :) I still only feel baby beneath my belly button you can search, they have a chart to show where your uterus is each month of pregnancy :)

  • Don't have any experience with the pain but I do feel movement below and above with ny babies.
  • This all sounds pretty normal tbh. The cravings and the food then not meeting expectations, the gas, the way you described the pain it sounds like either baby of gas. Maybe you can try massaging that spot and see if something shifts.

According to What to Expect When You're Expecting, the top of the uterus reaches your belly button some time around 20 weeks. It might still be a hair early to feet higher movement. Did they say during your scan where the placenta is located? It could be high and in front so it's cushioning the movement and making it harder to feel. The important thing is that you're feeling movement, regardless of where it's focused.
  • I think this all sounds normal also! I have an anterior placenta and this keeps me from feeling baby much. The only time I feel her is down low as well!
  • Congrats on your pregnancy! Like previous poster have asked, do you have an anterior placenta? If you do you would have a harder time feeling movements. From my understanding every pregnancy is different, including symptoms. You may find this website helpful; https://www.womenshealthmag.com/health/second-pregnancy
I would also suggest editing your photo to hide your personal information as previously mentioned.

  • I'm 21 wweeks pregnant with a little boy, and I have never felt movement above the belly button at this point. I feel movement constantly, but it's usually super low or about halfway between my provide and belly button.
  • I'm 23 weeks and 4 days, the only place I felt my little man is just above my pelvis, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, the important things is that your munchkin is moving :)
  • @melvinsmom seriously, please edit your picture because we can see all of your information and if somebody does a Google search with your handle, they're going to be able to pull up your medical record number and a ton of information.
  • Thanks! Didn't think about any of that lol.
  • @SamiBearrr, it might just be all in my head. And yes, as long as shes moving is what matters. :)
  • @Mother0fDragons thanks for the info!!! I don't remember if they mentioned where the placenta is. But the nurse did mention that to me in ER when I went for pain. :)
