She rolled over!!!

okay so of course I believe that my baby is super advanced and amazing because I'm her mommy.. But she really is when it comes to strength.
She was 3 weeks early and the day after she was born she pulled her feet up and rolled to the side. I thought it was an accident and the nurse was utterly shocked. She continued to do this. At her first doctors appointment she did it to the nurse who was trying to measure her.. The nurse was also in shock.. (Is this not a normal thing? My other two never did it that young.. But does that mean that it's not possible?) so last night at exactly 6 weeks old, I laid her on her belly to take a picture.. She kept wiggling all around and then pushed herself to her side. I was amazed, but then she didn't stop there, and continued to roll on to her back. I can't remember when my older two did that.. But is 6 weeks old a normal age to do this? Or do I have a super baby here :) she's been holding her head up on her own
Anyone else's babies do anything to amaze you? (Aside from oh, everything they do)

Re: She rolled over!!!

  • Awww what a strong little nugget!! My sister's 4th baby was rolling over at about that age. I don't think it's very common, but it is definitely possible!
  • Loading the player...
  • My son can roll onto his side too! He'll be a month tomorrow. He can hold his head up for sooo long too and his kicks are super strong. I place him on my chest and he kicks my stomach and headbutts me. I'm chalking it up to him being a week late. He had more time to cook.
  • Lol so she is a little above average :)
And yea my oldest was 10 days late and she was stronger as well. That's why I'm shocked about my baby being as strong as my oldest was and she's 3 weeks early. I guess cause I was always told that early babies were weaker.
  • My baby did this at 4 weeks old it if amazing how strong they are. I don't remember my other two doing it that early either. I guess we just have super babies lol
  • I remember with DS he did it several times early, don't remember the exact age, but early. Enough I got it on video. Than he stopped and started again late. LOL

  • My son is only 10 days old today… I swear I saw him do this twice today! Once when I laid him swaddled on his back in the crib he got onto his side, which worries me that he could flip all the way over. He did it again when I had him laying flat on the changing table -pulled his legs up and got right on his side & started sucking his hand
  • Must be in the air :)
  • Mine has been doing it too specially when I lay him down all swaddled up. He got in his Tommy once which freaks me out. He also holds his head really good; he'll be a month on Monday. I think babies are born way too advanced nowadays.
  • Our little one was a month early and rolled onto his side within his first week. I was worried about it at night time, so I asked our pediatrician. She said because he was early and small he had less weight/width to keep himself flat on his back. He's kind of stabilized since he's filled out! Definitely nowhere near rolling over now!!
  • That makes sense!! Cause my peanut hasn't rolled to her side on accident since she got some chub.. But she did roll to her back on purpose. Twice now. Babies are super advanced these days. I have two different bay fathers.. My oldest and my youngest share a father. And my middle child has a different father. (I hate to admit that.. But I love them to pieces) anyways, my oldest and youngest seem to have more strength.. I wonder if it's genes?
  • My little man has been doing it too since the beginning, rolls from his back onto his side easy and onto his belly. When he was brought to me at delivery of my c section he was pushing his head back hard against the nurses hand to get a better look at me, its adorable my strong little man. He also curls his knees up when on his belly and lunges himself forward not far but he tries lol!
  • My first born did this. She was rolling over consistently at 6 weeks old. I thought it was a time thing so I put her back in her belly and she did it again. My twins are looking to be the same. They have both been rolling into their sides since the day they were born. One of them prefers to sleep that way. I think that's how she was in the womb and its comfort to her. My twins are also holding their heads up already. Not all the time but for short periods of time. I will start tummy time tomorrow as both of them just lost their umbilical cords :). Now the fun starts!! Night girls!
  • Yes! Lol, my mom swears I have the most strongest and advanced baby because my kid, born a month early, was rolling onto her side at 2weeks and then onto her belly by 4 weeks. Now at 6weeks she squirms all over and can roll herself to rhe other side of the mat and lift her head up to look around for a good amount of time and almost look like she's going to crawl... It looks like there are lots of little advanced babies on this forum though
  • ^thats what my little girl does. She pulls her knees up. And she pushes herself forward with her feet. And holds her up up.. For a good 10 to 15 minutes before she lays it down and relaxes. She now pulls her hands under her when on her belly and picks her head up. Must be all the vitamins and healthy foods we eat during pregnancy. We did good mama's!!
  • My LO rolled on his side in the hospital. If you put him on his back, he goes on his side. At 3 weeks, he rolled from belly to back.

  • My. Dd roller from front to back the other day as well. She was 3w2d. I flipped her back and she did it again. Since then she does it whenever she has tummy time. Smart babies we have!!
  • Today my little guy rolled from tummy to back. He just hates tummy time that much! I thought it was a fluke, so I put him back on his tummy, and he did it again! I was pretty shocked. However, because arm strength is involved, I am assuming that rolling from tummy to back is a lot different than back to tummy, correct? I assume back to tummy takes a lot more coordination and motor skill.
  • What do you do if baby rolls onto tummy while in the crib? Do we flip them back onto their back? My daughter keeps rolling over and I know she is not supposed to sleep on her belly. Any advice?
  • We have strong babies.. My son is also rolling over and pushing himself foward when in his tummy ..
Tummy times is encouraged . I try to do tummy time with him a few times through out the day
