C Section Scar & Linea Negra

Hi ladies! So I am 16 weeks pp (delivered 6 weeks early & decided to stick with the May board because it is a lot more active and my LOs tend to align more developmentally with May babies). Anyway, I digress. I was wondering whether my c sec scar should still be bright red at this point? When does it usually fade? And my Linea Negra is still really prominent - purple in places and yellow/greenish in others. When does that usually fade and/or go away? FTM over here and I have no idea but my labor & emergency c sec was very traumatic and I have zero confidence the doctors did everything right. (I will save you the long sob story but will tell you the ONLY thing I remember from the c sec was the attending doctor saying to the resident doctor "not bad, but I would've done it this way"). Thanks for the help!

Re: C Section Scar & Linea Negra

  • I am 14 pp and my scar is still pretty reddish pink too. I'm a ftm too. My lines nigra was very light brown to begin with but is still about the same. Also I have stretch marks on my stomach that are bright pink too.
That's all I have, hope that helps! :)

  • My ds is 11 weeks and my scar is still red too. My dr told me it would start to fade around 6 months hopefully. I guess it's like stretch marks how they start red but with time they fade to white.
  • I'm a stm and this was my 2nd cs I'm 14 wks pp an mine is still red. I can for the life of me remember when mine faded but it eventually did. It probably depends on your skin tone and how you scar overall. My scar was the very large last time but thanks to my doc this time it is very thin. I'm sure it will start fading soon.
  • I'm using that bio stretch mark/ scar oil and I keep wanting to put it on my c section scar! I need to do some reading and see if I can or if would even help
  • I didn't have a c section but my linea nigra is still very prominent. I heard they can stick around for 6-12 months.
  • My c sec scar is purple... hmm. Linea negra seems to be about the same as it was while pregnant. I have a friend with an 8 month old who still has hers so I'm not planning on it going away any time soon.
  • Thanks ladies! I'm reassured - but bummed. Sounds like it might be awhile!
