8 weeks to go. should I start getting mine & babies hospital bag ready just in case?

Even though I still have 8 more weeks. Should I start to pack hospital bag? If so, what should I pack?

  • No harm in being ready now, I say go for it. Especially if you have energy and feel good-- who knows what tomorrow or next week might bring? I found this checklist online, it looks pretty good: https://americanpregnancy.org/planning/packing-list/

  • Mine is packed and in the trunk of the car. DH's stuff too. =  D
  • You guys are so on top of things! I am 8 weeks away and I could not pack the bags even ifi wanted to - still need nursing tops, baby's outfit, and car seat! ( to be fair, our shower is in 3 weeks, which is why we don't have the baby stuff yet.).

I'm in the exact same boat as you are.

  • I just ordered a bag on Amazon so I can pack mine! My old sports bag is ripping and falling apart so I needed a new bag anyways for when we do weekend trips. We tend to go on those a couple of times a year.

Should be here Sunday! I plan on hitting up the dollar store this weekend to pick up a hair brush, toothpaste and other smaller items to pack in my bag. I'm going to bring 2 pairs or sweat pants, lots of underwear in case I bleed through on them, socks, comfortable shirts (I might go buy a nursing shirt or two), slippers and so on.

My hospital will only let the baby wear their stuff and I can't put him in a normal outfit until we are being discharged. I'll probably pack an outfit or two for him too. Not sure I'm going to bring a diaper bag since my friend said they send you home with a pack of diapers, wipes, pacifier, etc.

Car seat is already installed in my car and good to go.
  • I'm bringing my own pillow and blanket this time. Also some of my own snacks. Comfy clothes, PJs with button up top (for nursing), toiletries, and some Always Infiniti pads, hospital pads are like diapers....baby's stuff.
  • I have some stuff, but am also waiting to set what the hospital provides. I have heard of significant variations and am hoping the class that I am scheduled for will answer some of this.
