He settles her in her home as a happy mother of children, praise the Lord! (Psalms 113:9)
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understand, will guard your heart and mind in Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:7)
Re: Weekly check-in August 2
I cannot believe it's August. I only have three weeks left of maternity leave and I'm not looking forward to going back, which surprises me. While I don't really see myself as a sahm, 12 weeks just seems really soon.
For the most part, I liked school. In elementary, I liked spelling, writing and art, then journalism in HS, so I ended up a communications major in college. But even with all the fun classes I took for my major, my favorite was a stagecraft class I audited. It's always fun creating things and working behind the scenes of a theatre.
We intended to wait till 6 months to introduce solids but DS didn't get the memo (he's almost 5 months). He snatched some broccoli from me and started nibbling on it. That's right, broccoli. He can't sit up on his own 100%, nor can he do the pincer grasp, but we decided he was ready. So, he's been getting small, mashed up amounts of whatever we're eating. He's very adventurous and screams at us, demanding to try our foods.
It's been really hot so we haven't been able to go for walks as much. I might have to switch to morning walks instead of evenings. I'm sooo not a morning person.
QOTW: I liked physics, with art as a close second. My AP art and physics teachers were on some committee together and would pop in to the lab or studio for quick chats. My art teacher found it very disorienting to see me in a lab coat focusing on an experiment and my physics teacher to see me in an apron, toiling away on a painting.
DD still isn't sleeping through the night, but it's catching up to me. I was ready for he'd by 7:30 or 8 every night. I had to stay up later to clean up dinner and stuff. But boy, I was ready to crash
QOTW: what was your favorite subject, or class, in school?
I was a math and science geek.
**siggy warning**

I just put my notice into work last week. I sure didn't expect to feel this much anxiety about something I've always wanted to do but geesh I'm so anxious.
I'm a social sciences girl so I always loved psychology/sociology classes the best.
Things have been pretty good here. We're out and about a lot but trying to stay out of the heat. Is it October yet?
I found a really nice toddler bed on Craigslist for a great price and we decided we wanted to paint and distress it. My h got all the painting done and now we have to let it dry and cure awhile before we do the distressing. It's going to be beautiful, I'm so excited. I think we still have some time before we make the switch but she is starting to think about climbing out of the crib and she almost got out of her sleep sack the other day so we want to be ready.
I made a new mommy friend who's daughter is five months younger than mine. We had a couple play dates and we get along really well. I'm so happy to have another friend for my daughter to play with and someone for me to socialize with to help me keep my sanity!
I'm also working on a mouse house for the mice I got from Maileg. I'm making it out of a box and it's turning out really cute. My daughter is so excited about it. Look at me getting all crafty LOL. Pinterest is finally my friend.
Let's see, we also have baby guppies so that's been fun. And we're building a little fairy fort in the back yard with my h's old papasan chair. We've been busy. No wonder I'm so tired!
I just made a drastic change and chopped all my hair off. It was super long. I just needed a break. I love it and it looks great. It's making me want to put a little more effort into myself again. I actually painted my nails the other day, I haven't done that in years!
On a sad note, my h went to his consultation and has decided to get a vasectomy. I am trying to come to terms with it. I know it is the best decision for our family but it's hard to let go of my yearning for one more.
My h left this morning for the Ensign Nationals sailing competition in Connecticut so I am going to be a single parent for the next week. Ugh. Coffee, please!
QOTW: I always loved Show Choir. I miss singing, it was fun.
Our nursery has an antique dresser and hutch that we painted and distressed - fun project
