  • I have had McD's for breakfast for the past 3 days and I am totes feeling guilty. I just started getting nauseous in the morning and it's the only thing (plus a diet coke which I know I also shouldn't really be drinking) that sounds good.

  • Okay this one is not pregnancy related.  My SIL was over to my house last Friday and she was complaining about how much money she is spending on her brother's Long Island wedding.  Now I have been listening to them complain about this pretty much since they were engaged.  She was saying that the bride's shower wasn't any different than any shower she had been to and cost way more, then I pointed out that her own sister's shower (which my SIL planned like 2 months before it) was not the quality of this shower.  Then she got pissed off, but here is the comparison.

    This Bride's Shower
    * 3 course meal
    * 2 options in every course
    * Nice favors
    * Games
    * A cake
    * A private room in a restaurant on Long Island

    The Shower I was comparing it to
    * Bring your own dish to the shower
    * The decorations were her gifts placed on the window sill
    * Favors were gross grandma candy
    * No cake
    * No games
    * Our church basement

    But still I felt guilty because I know it was the best she could do, but you can't compare apples to oranges.  And I really want them to quit their b*tching about this wedding.  It is expensive get over it, if you couldn't afford to be in it then don't.

  • I am going to a wedding tomorrow for a cousin who I can't stand on a side of my family I basically don't want to have any relations with (long story), but I have to go because not going would be too much drama. So I am going to put on a fake smile and make small talk but secretly be thinking about how much I can't stand any of them.
    The only nice thing is my siblings are also stuck going so at least I get to visit with them.

    Yikes. She asked guests to bring gifts for the MTB AND bring food? So the guests basically hosted themselves..

  • My kids (3 and 1) have been watching way too much tv the past few weeks. I feel bad about it every day, but I end up letting them watch an extra show or two most days. I said I wasn't going to let myself feel bad about it while I was sick, but I can't help it. I feel like I'm rotting their poor little brains. At least it's pbs? :(

  • I told off my mil this morning and don't feel in the least bit bad about it. Dont try and tell me what I can and cannot do in the days after finding out I am pregnant to which your response was "well I guess I am happy for you" & then complaining how we are sooooo mean because unlike sil and nephew we dont see you every week multiple times a week. Sorry we work and have lives.

    Are you sure you're not talking about my MIL? I know she will be happy about the news when we do decide to share, but she is totally over the whole grandkid thing now that she has 10 of them. It's not special for her anymore and that makes me sad. We relocated recently and one of the BIGGEST perks has been not being expected to see her every.single.week. Like lady, I don't see my own mom that much and she lives 3 miles from you! DH does get flamed at least every other week for not calling her though lol.

  • A) my diet is absolutely terrible
    B) I am honestly toying with the idea of not bothering to tell my family I am pregnant. We have told my husband's parents, which I was looking forward to. Just can't bring myself to care about telling my family.

    Our oldest was the first grandchild and MIL wasnt happy then because we announced the day after SIL got engaged, we didn't allow her to announce to everyone else and my family found out first. MIL still blabbed and it got back to my at the time boss before I got a chance to tell so this time MIL found out literally an hour before we posted on facebook and she wasn't happy that a. she was the last pretty much to find out, and b. she didn't know we were trying.

    and we live between the parents and I work close to where my IL's live. However, my MIL has a history of being crazy (including stalking my oldest at daycare and stalking our house to see if we have others watching oldest) so with some counseling we have cut back visits with her to once every six or eight weeks and she has only ever watched oldest once (she is almost 5) because she can't be trusted, thinks LO doesn't need a car seat, thinks we have made up lo's allergies and asthma, and has no problems putting my child in danger. OTOH she sees SIL and nephew at least 4 times a week and even though SIL, her husband and kiddo have their own apartment they still spend at least two nights a week at the il's.
  • LO and I have been binge watching Disney movies, Kipper, and Oliver Discovers (he's 15 months).  I feel awful, because this is the last week I'm off for summer vacation and I feel like I'm missing this precious time with him because I'm so ill/exhausted.  I wanted to spend all summer at the pool, on the playground, at the library... but the last two weeks have been awful.

  • Also while I never wish demise on anything other than spiders and snakes, I'm kind of hoping that my dog passes away while we are living with my in laws while our house is being built. We have about 2 months left. She has always had bad hips and shoulders and has started having tons of accidents inside because she's too old to hold it. She cant do stairs anymore. She's definitely on her last legs so to speak. I love my dog and hate feeling like this.

    I'm sorry. I have been there and totally understand. We ended up having to put my 16 year old dog down because he has so much trouble getting up (hip problems even with medication) that he was having tons of accidents on himself.

    And what I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around is how do you explain to a 3/4 year old about euthanasia?  I mean one minute she'll be there and then we take her away and she won't come back.  We had to get rid of another dog because he mentally snapped and was not safe around my kids and we had to take him to the humane society to surrender him - we told my son that he was getting sick and he was going to a new home where he would be much happier - he asked me this morning when we were going to be finding a new home for Riley since she's sick.  It's amazing how much he comprehends and remembers.

    It is crazy how much they remember. I feel like my 3 1/2 year old forgets nothing. This was before we had him. We did have one dog die since he has been born but he was young to remember. Does your DS understand death? Mine does mainly because DH is a hunter. If he does I might just explain that she was really sick and old and that she died and not try to explain her being euthanized?

    Growing up I had LOTS of pets. Dogs, cats, horses, hamsters, you name it, I had it. For as long as I could remember, my parents have always been open and honest with me about what happened to those pets and did their best to explain what death was and why it had to happen. It sounds morbid looking back on it, but I am grateful my parents were able to explain it to me. It made me appreciate the time I had with my pets.

  • I want to get rid of my cat. He is great with people and had never scratched or bitten anyone. But since DS was born he has peed in three rooms, two of which we don't use often and didn't realize until it had soaked into the pad and possibly the sub floor. We have taken him to the vet and run a lot of tests and they can't find anything wrong with him. Since getting pregnant this time, his peeing out of the litter box has increased and this morning he pooped in my shoe. I love the cat, but I can't take it anymore.

    Also, add me to the club of watching more tv with DS. I've been making an effort this week to be better about it, but I'm so tired I caved last night and he watched Cars 2 until DH got home.

    Definitely no flame for that one, you just want your pup to live out her days where she will be more comfortable. We knew it was time to put my girl down when she had more bad days than good.  No way did I want her to suffer just so I could keep her with me longer, but I was tempted, oh trust me I was tempted.  Your just thinking compassionately, not selfishly.

    Cats will have accidents (or I guess you could call them On Purposes) when they're mad about something. The cat my family had growing up would pee on my dad's flight bag when he was getting ready to go out of town.

    Actually, our Yorkie does this too. He jumps on our bed and pees on my husband's side of the bed when he's pissed about something (we have a mattress cover so it just goes in the wash, still really obnoxious though).

  • This thread is taking a sad turn. We had to put my cat that I got for my 16th birthday and owned for 11 years to sleep when DD was 2 weeks old. Cancer :( Cue emotional wreck compounded by PP hormones.

    DH's FFFC: I told him that my sister just had to spend $1000 to fix her dog's eye injury. He said we would take our dog back out and shoot her. O.O It's not even a fatal condition!!

    Dang. We dropped nearly 4k because of our Rottie's torn ACL. It wasn't easy but she's our baby.

    My guilt: My cat is 12 and seems to have some abnormal growths and I am reluctant to take her to the vet. My dog has been scratching at her ear and the first thing I want to do is get her to treatment. I don't mean to have favorites. I'm just a horrible person. :(
  • I just spent my first week as a nanny... (two girls 8 and 9... loving it!)... and I get my head above water and get this sad thread.....

    My doggy is 7 years old... We will at least be in this country for about 4-5 years... I have had to come to terms that if we do move back to the states we will leave him here because of his age and the stress (he was 3 when I brought him).... I cant imagine life without!

  • My SO's dog is 15 and I kind of hope he dies before we move in together in a couple months because it will be impossible to find a house to rent that will allow big dogs (even though the dog is so old and doesn't do anything, just lies around). The thing is he's only had the dog for a few months because it's former owner, a friend of his, couldn't keep it because he moved to a place that didn't allow dogs!

    1: I accidentally shut the door to my best friend's room before we went out one night. I had a shut her cat in her room without knowing. When we return from the bars the cat had sh*t on her pillow. Cats do get mad.
    Confession: I still laugh about it and it was 9 years ago.

    2: My mother-in-law is actually crazy. She has frontal lobe dementia, the behavioral type. Look it up it's a real thing. She is in a home now, but before got to that point she would walk up to random people and tell them about how her privates itch. Or how black people weren't allowed in her elementary school. Truly awesome. Now she tells people that God tells her she can have her truck back. That ish ain't happenin.
    Confession: although I try to laugh about it all, it breaks my heart the way she has turned out. She is only 62 and should be enjoying the prime of being a grandma. My son will never know her nor will this baby.
    ETA: they won't know the real her. I visit her with my son at least once a week.

    My other confession is that we don't own a TV. We got rid of it four years ago and haven't looked back.
  • @ARogers26 I'm so sorry.  That's so hard for everyone.
