Re: Any mom's with tricare order their breast pump yet?

  • From O15. I just got mine yesterday. I'm prime. My doctor put in the order for it last Wednesday. I got a call from Military Medical Supply on Monday, and my medela pump arrived yesterday. Not sure about what all is in the box. I haven't gone through it yet, but i don't think we get a ton of the extras covered. I could be wrong though! :) hope that helps!
  • I'm standard, but you should double check with your doctor. Storage bags, bottles and bottle caps are definitely covered! And up until 36 months!
  • Nice! I haven't looked into it too much. I just asked my doctor about it last week, and she said she'd put in the order. If you google tricare breast pump it has links for submitting a claim to be reimbursed.
  • Yeah I have all the info, I was trying to find where I can order that is familiar with the process even though policy just changed. I didn't want to have to deal with submitting for reimbursement.
  • My doctor gave me a prescription last week and a list of suppliers that work with Tricare and the steps of how to go about getting it. I just have to sit down and look into it and get it ordered!
  • I ordered a medela a few months ago and submitted the claim to Tricare about two weeks ago for reimbursement. Still waiting but I think they've got a lot of them to go through!
  • Mine won't give an order until discharge, which is fine, but am planning on just getting a Medela from Target.
  • I am remote and just had my breast pump delivered. How do we get other breastfeeding supplies? I ordered the larger cups from Amazon for 7 dollars because my midwife said it comes with mediums.
  • My doctor won't give orders for one until after baby is born, would it be easier to just buy one and get reimbursed? I don't mind waiting but I'm not sure how long it'll take them to get it here?
  • My prescription is for breast pump, and storage bags, but according to their faq, they cover more as long as it is on your prescription
  • It has to made out for a standard breast pump and supplies to cover everything. Mine actually said medical grade pump and I have to get a new one because they won't do that unless medically necessary. I haven't had any luck with my office on models or reimbursement amount, or even whether "standard" means a single or double electric. If anyone has specifics on make and models that are approved I would appreciate it!
  • Agreed! It's such a pain

I have tricare and just ordered my Medela Starter Kit breastpump through Aeroflow. Tricare also covers an additional 6 medela storage containers. All I had to do was take a picture of my prescription and e-mail it o my Aeroflowr rep! Very easy.

ETA: The rep told me Tricare doesnt cover the freestyle, or pump in style advanced. Just the starter kit pump.

  • I bought the medela pump in style a while ago. After they started accepting claims for reimbursement I sent in a copy of my order and had my midwife write me a prescription and sent a copy of that in as well. Just got my check in the mail.. took maybe like 3 weeks? The only thing they didn't reimburse was the sales tax
  • I just bought my pump-in style advanced from target this past weekend. Are you sure it's not covered? From what I've heard Tricare covers about $250 towards any pump. But I might be wrong...Any other mama's buy the pump-in style advanced? Did you get reimbursed or was it denied? If this one isn't covered I'm gonna exchange it for one that it. I really like this one though :-/
  • The prescription does have to say "plus supplies" on it to be able to get them reimbursed too, though I believe you will have to buy them separate, keep the receipt, and put in a claim for them. I got my medela pump-in-style advanced starter kit through a local medical supply company (Apria healthcare) and it was very easy. Just dropped off my prescription and they called me a week later when it was in. I got my prescription from my Ob (not on base, got a referral for her) beginning of July, but I know when I called family health about having a pump ordered through base they said I would have to wait until after baby was born. Not sure if this is just wrong (you should be able to get the prescription in advance) or how all on-base med groups are handling it. Anyway, every time I went to tricare to ask about it they said I should be able to get it in advance through a med supply group or reimbursement, though they didn't have any advice on what brands or models were covered. Very helpful :/ But I know a double standard electric is what is being given to people who go through medical supply companies, so that is a safe bet.
  • Picked up mine from target the other day. Got tricare standard. Just call the below number. They will verify your info And all you do is send in a copy of your prescription.
  • I bought the medela pump in style advanced and I was reimbursed

Mine was reimbursed without a problem
  • I went through Aeroflow and got Medela Pump in Style Advanced through tricare. I had to fax them a copy of prescription for pump from my dr but otherwise it was just giving them info. They shipped it out last week and I got in Thursday Sept 10. They said the mail 1 week prior to due date. I am due tomorrow so that was accurate! Good luck!
  • I ask my doctor for a prescription, and a week later the company came to my door and delivered a double electic/manual pump
  • I got mine last week! I ordered from Byram Healthcare. It was an easy process and I got it super fast!
  • I guess I'm not sure the value what mine is. Sounds like a couple ladies did get the more advanced ones covered..Just sounds like we are all getting different things.
